Hi everyone, haven't updated for a while cos there hasn't really hasnt been anything to say!
have paid £165.70 to credit card this week. Nothing else will be paid until January. really hoping we can have one credit card paid by end of February. this would be DH's barclaycard which has approx £1500 on it, so fingers crossed.
Still being very careful with the food shopping, have slacked a little bit this week because of Christmas, but next week will be back to normal.
Have still been feeling a bit down, but I'm sure I will get their in the end.
Off now to watch A Christmas Carol with Patrick Stewart. Not sure if I will be back on here before Christmas, if not I wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy new year, hope 2013 brings you all that you wish for x0 -
Hi, hope you all had a fab Christmas. Mine was okay, was at my in laws, they are fabulous people love them to bits but I just didn't want to be surrounded by people. I wanted to be home lying on the sofa in my pj's watching tv!!!
Haven't paid anything else as yet as no bills due Until mid January.
However on checking bank balance this morning, Argos have taken a payment of £74 by direct debit on the 28th!!!!!! I cleared this off at the beginning of December so I don't understand why they have taken this. My account with them now shows a credit. I suppose I should have cancelled the ddm at the bank. I have sent them an email (not wanting to call their 0845 number) so hopefully they will refund this to me ASAP. Not sure if I should just call the bank and say this payment was taken in error!
Anyway hopefully everyone is well, all the best to you all in 2013.0 -
Hi Alwaysworried....Hoping i can join you on your journey?
Depression is a nasty one...I truly feel thats the reason why i managed to get into debt. I was diagnosed this year & looking back at the bank statements - This seems to be where we started going wrong too!
The last few days I have been feeling the same...So i'm hoping your posts will give me a kick up the backside also!!
Good luck with your journey hun. xFuture goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.
Be happy & healthy0 -
Hi AW,
Glad to hear you had a lovely Christmas, must admit there is nowhere I would rather be than relaxing at home with the fire on :coffee:.
How annoying that Argos took that extra payment. Must admit I always make a habit of deleting DD's that are not needed when I do my online banking. Hopefully they will refund you asap. It might mean a call to them, and doubt your bank would do anything to help.
I think all us MSE'ers are just desperate to get on with January.
Our boiler has broken down and I was already £170 short for bills in January, so going to be a long miserable month for us.
I have some jewellery for sale on Ebay hoping to make the extra money I need. Do you have anything you can sell to put towards cc payments. ?
Anyway hope you have a good new years eve and heres to a frugal but fun 2013. xx0 -
Hi Steph,
I wanted to sell some of my good clothes but DH said not to bother as it would end up I would have nothng to wear and then would need to go and buy more! I've sold some of my clothes, shoes and bags that I haven't worn/used for a while.
We think we will be able to pay about £1000 to one of the credit cards by the end of January which would be great, and because February and March are free council tax months, we should hopefully pay another £1000 by the end of March, after that it will be approx £500-£600 per month to the cards, more if hubbie gets overtime which he is hoping for, also, Hubbie spoke to his boss about a pay rise just before Christmas, and he said to leave it with him until after the new year, so fingers crossed. We are able to pay £1000 by the end of January (if everything goes to plan) because of stuff we have sold on eBay, savings frm grocery shopping and hubbie and I got Christmas bonuses.
Hope everything goes to plan for you Steph. All the best in 2013.0 -

I hope you feel better soon Princess, I think this time of year makes depression seem worse. My SIL doesn't understand why I was feeling depressed, she seems to think I should "man up and get on with it".
Dont get me wrong she is a wonderful person, she just doesn't understand depression and thnks no one should feel depressed less they have a reason to be depressed. She doesn't know about the debts though, but even then she probably wouldn't understand.
I have felt ALOT better these past few days, and I keep thinking 2013 is gong to be a better year for me, I just have a feeling. I hope 2013 is a better year for you too.0 -
Hi always worried
i was just reading through your diary and have subscribed.
Regarding the DD to argos you have two options.
ring them on 01204 677400 (alternative number to the 0845 one)
this website is really useful for finding alternative numbers http://www.saynoto0870.com/
Or you could ring your bank explain that Arogs shouldn't have taken the DD and ask to do a DD indemnity claim.
They should refund the DD back to you in a day or two. They will then claim it back from Argos.
Hope that helps0 -
Thanks for that info Amaretto. A trying to remember the name of the website to get alternative numbers but I just couldn't remember, will keep that website handy now.
I have a feeling if I contact my bank I might get the money back sooner than I will if I wait for Argos to refund it. Will go into the bank into the bank in the morning.0 -
happy new year everyone
Well a payment of £139.78 was made today, I completely forgot it was due, it came out by direct debit.
I am so glad it's now 2013 I could not wait for 2012 to be behind us.
My DH, MIL and I were talking last night about savings and I kind of panicked a little inside because we don't have any.
Hopefully DH will be more sensible than me and once the cards a clear can start to put savings by.
I went into the bank to see if I could claim my argos direct Debit back, but they said I would need to speak to Argos.
This morning I got an email from argos apologising for the ddm being taken they need to wait 14 days from the date it was taken then I have to call them and ask for a cheque to be sent out to me!!!!
So onwards and upwards is m motto for this year, im off now to have a lovely steak pie dinner.
All the best to you all for 2013 x0
