Wookster I can only tell it as it is, as well. The Tories attitude will have to change otherwise they will have created their own demise, and then God will not help you.

Try getting them to understand that their methods maybe are correct, but dont ruin what they are doing by 'rushing in where Angels fear to tread.

That maybe so, their time in government has been a disaster so far, though less disastrous than a Labour victory would have been.

Lets change tack here, what do you think were the prime causes of the great recession?

Running a negative balance of payments means progressively our wealth is flowing away.

With oil and gas production in decline. There's little chance of retaining 6th spot.

oil and gas doesn't count at manufacturing and so don't affect our 6th spot.

You know that attitude is just complacent and dangerous. This whole "we're ok" and "we're doing fine as we are" attitude is the sort of attitude that got us into this mess in the first place.

Its time to start looking at what other countries are doing, and compare ourselves to them!

It is very Labouresque to just assume we're all fine rather than to have a risk based approach to running the economy.

which countries do you want to compare ourselves to
    greece, spain, portugal, france?

whatever is a risk based approach to running the country?
does that mean looking at the risk of causing a very severe recession by increasing taxes too much or of reducing investment too much or what?

In the past decade all the fat cats from numerous parties have feathered their own nests by evading taxes, and only given themselves a small wage and made up for it in bonuses and created much of the problems we have at the moment.

I feel at this moment that I have been verbally executed by a firing squad that consided of many of you forming a circle to carry out the execution and have destroyed us all as you will do at the next election.

We ought to be looking at what most countries are doing, particularly in areas we can either learn from or that will be in competition with us.

It is looking at the risks facing the country and formulating policy to mitigate said risks.

Conrad maybe you could enlighten me as to why you governed for 18 years and ended up in a right mess. You could not say 'It wasna me'

We handed over a golden economy in 1997. Labour then halved manufacturing in favoured of bloating a non wealth creating public sector. What are you on about? What did Labour achieve for the economy? Thier boom was a mirage fuelled by debt - the Labour hallmark.
