"You cant get sh!tter than a kwik fit fitter, cause their a bunch of tw@ts!"I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling0

Shouldn't that be "they're"?0 -
That means that the rip-off mentality comes from the top down then if you can replace a grommet/cover without replacing the whole part.
Often it's jsut as quick and nearly as cheap to replace a ball joint or track rod end as it is to replace just a dust cover.
Although the price seemed like they was charging for even more than thatnever heard of a plastic suspension grommet to cause a fail, in fact the only cover grommet things are to over the top nuts and make it pretty, no safety or structural at all
Not plastic, rubber. And they are failures if the dust covers are split. A very common failure and for very good reason.0 -
They gave me the hard sell for same stuff this summer ... during an aircon refill.
Warning: Kwik Fit rant follows
I'd considered Kwik Fit safe for an aircon refill since it's a simple task done by a machine. Yet they messed even this up: the machine did the refill, then they closed the bonnet, started the car and revved it for several minutes. They didn't notice that the pump had seized until they noticed the smoke.
I promised myself I'd never go to Kwik Fit after they performed an authorised wheel alignment on a nearly new car during a routine tyre change and ruined the tracking (took two garages and three re-alignments to get the car to go straight, and the steering wheel is still offset 6 years later), then had the audacity to charge me for it. They also destroyed my locking wheel nut key on the same day - I'd watched the "mechanic" do it without realising; he'd jacked the car up before loosening the nuts, so span the wheel against a breaker bar.
Not that I think KF are anything other than imbociles.. but if a further two garages couldn't get it right then it sounds like an issue with the car as much as anything.
Also locking wheel nut keys are not as strong or as durable as they should be. It's far from uncommon for the pattern to basically peel off it when using. A bit of a PITA when it doesn but could happen at any garage0 -
I visited the Durham branch for a brake check on Saturday 4th February at 10am as I was due to go on a long journey.
I was not asked when the brake fluid had last been changed which the tv screen in the reception said would happen..
The man who served me quoted for new Brembo disks and pads (I requested Brembo), but when I asked which grade of Brembo disk (they manufacture more than one) was he quoting for, he had no idea there were other grades available and said he had only been given one option from the supplier.
He did not offer to call the supplier back and ask which grade was being supplied.
The quote was printed out and he asked what work I would like doing immediately.
As soon as I said I did not have time for work to be done that day, his attitude changed completely. He said nothing, walked away, came back and even though I was sat in front of him at his desk totally ignored me, did some paperwork, signed for a delivery from Europarts, walked away into the workshop area again, not one word was spoken. I was left with no idea what was going on until a technician came and gave me my keys back and said I could go now.
I did not receive the written brake report, and there was no one to ask where it was.
I left with the distinct feeling that unless you are going to spend money that day, immediately, you are scum, to be ignored and disposed of as soon as possible.
I went in for a free brake check, came out with a quote for £930 for front disks and pads, and 4 new tyres!! All 'essential work' as I was told.
The quote had:-
Two front Brembo disks £167 (Europarts supply them for £90)
Set of brake pads £106 (Europarts supply them for £44).
Tyres - the price for tyres at Kwik Fit look reasonable but you will be charged £60 for valves and balancing, and £50 for tracking.0 -
Kwik Fit are scum and I will never and have never used them since they did the BG44K scam on me. They knew it was scam wise they wouldn't have refunded me otherwise.0

They have to make a profit somewhere. Were the supply only costs you have inclusive of 20% VAT?
Not sticking up for Kwik Fit, but make sure that you factor in retail profit.0 -
Kwik Fit caught out again.
They get exposed every few years eg by Watchdog etc
