Did they tell you how much the cancellation fee was?0
-
nope, nothing like that
the argument here from my point of view as a paying customer is that they treated me bad.... delays... barely functional online system....threat made 2 weeks after i signed up about paying some deposit I never heard of or have my account closed (whilst I am abroad which costs me more to make the call to them as it was "urgent")
how can one know what their service is like without taking out a contract? There is no trial.0 -
You have seven days to return the contract and cancel the agreement. If it goes over the seven days, you are committed to the contract.
Roaming is usually enabled on the account after three clear payments. As you were a new customer, vodafone would have had way to know how you would handle your account and you would be asked to pay a deposit which would be returned, this shows goodwill on behalf of the customer as well as Vodafone.
Loss of income is something Vodafone will not pay and are quite explicit about in their terms and conditions.
12 Liability and exclusions
a We are legally responsible to you if our negligence causes death or personal injury.
We will not be legally responsible to you for:
• loss of income or profits;
• loss of use of the services;
• lost business or missed opportunities; or
• any loss or damage that is not directly caused by us or which we could not reasonably expect at the time we entered into this agreement with you.0 -
Contracts are not all for a minimum of 12 months; you can get 12 and 18 month contracts.
Some of your complaints may well be unjustified; running up large bills whilst abroad and being asked to pay a deposit seems reasonable to me.
Ending your contract for poor service isn't an option - they will still charge for the full term (possibly minus VAT) and you will end up with debt collectors chasing you and a wrecked credit record for years to come.
Whilst normal Vodafone "service" IS appalling, all you have done is shoot yourself in the foot - and if you don't repair the damage you will end up with a VERY serious condition.0 -
You have the right to get a PAC code any time. That's why you were given it. They have the right to charge a termination fee if you cancel contract.
They will charge that fee.
If you don't pay, they will record that on your credit record. And eventually someone
That's the position.
As far as your initial problem, we have threads on here from people moaning about huge bills they can't pay as they have incurred roaming costs. They would have lik ed to have some sort of notification or block put on, particularly those who have had their phones stolen.
Seems the networks are always wrong.
Edit:- If they were that bad from square one and they said they would cancel your account - presumably without any termination charge - why did you not take them up on that offer???0 -
As you are terminated the contract early you are likely to get a termination fee and if you don't pay you are likely to find a default registered against you.
If you want to get anywhere with this it likely you will have to pursue the matter through small claims court to get the contract terminated for breach of contract etc.0 -
i wish people would try to understand from my point of view:
1) I have no problem paying, its the principal and treatment that is the issue. would you like to pay for something which does not work fully and get treated like utter crap?
2) why didnt I cancel the account when they gave me the option? BECAUSE I WAS ABROAD! WHO WOULD I SWICH TO? I WOULD NOT PAY FOR A PLANE TCKET BACK HOME TO SORT IT OUT JUST LIKE THAT!
3) for the deposit thing - well, no one told me! not even written in the contract.
4) I have not received or been notified of some sort of last payment or outstanding balance or anything. I cannot read minds unless they tell me. they have not told me!
networks CAN and OFTEN are wrong but people get sucked into it because of this attitude of pushing and ruining customers. Typical british attitude, (yes, I am british and sick of this behavior these days)0 -

Where exactly would there be breach of contract ?
Vodafone have not breached any contract, the OP took out a contract which he terminated early and now has to pay the early termination penalty.0 -

Caveat Emptor. Do your research and within minutes you'd KNOW that Vodafone offers the opposite of service.
You aren't paying for good customer service - you're paying for a mobile phone and bundle (though the phone is usually "free" technically"). You can't return something to a shop merely because you don't like they way they treat you.0 -
*sigh*. ok.... fair enough. why dont they take my clothes whilst they are at it.
when you pay for something, you are paying for the COMPLETE package, not half of it!
thanks for the not so helpful responses but instead moaning to me that its all my fault for the shoddy service. i was asking my rights, and not trying to turn it on me when that is not the case at all.0
