Rising you are so right about the presents, I was just thinking back to mine, and the one thing I can remember............ I always got a packet of felt tip pens I loved getting those,:D goes to show it's really not about what it all costs.

Steph, I used to do the same with cards and paper, so now get all my stuff out early too, so that I can use it all up. I also now have a habit of buying cards and paper for next year a couple of days before Christmas when they are all really reduced. I also buy a couple of rolls of neutral paper such as plain silver or gold, or neutral patterns, and use those throughout the year for birthdays. It can be quite a saving. :D

Good luck with the new £2 pot

I cannot remember barely a single present I had for Christmas.

One year, I can remember the presents all being under the tree and knowing that one of my presents was a blue heffalump. I made a small hole in the wrapping and I would talk to him everyday. Saying "I will get you out soon" haha (yes I was a lonely only child :rotfl:).

Unfortunately I have lavished my children with toys in past Christmas's, all on credit. Well...I am affraid I am going to have to stop being so silly and they are going to have to re-adjust to their new improved mother. Hubby is always moaning at me about the amount I buy for them. Maybe he was right all along :(

Another MSE thing I have been doing since last night is cutting my dishwasher tablets in half (Yes I know I should probably be washing up by hand ). the dishes came out just as clean and sparkly this morning, so that is a good tip.

Am going to run out of coffee at some point in the next few days. I had'nt budgeted for a shop this week. I did a small £25 one late last week and I was hoping that was going to last but not looking good.

We live in the middle of nowhere. Is it either 2 miles to a local small supermarket that sells NISA stuff or 7 miles to a well known supermarket like Co-op or Sainsburys. It is then 10 miles to anything like Lidl, iceland etc.

I usually end up using the local NISA shop thats 2 miles away as I tend to think that the petrol I spend getting to the other shops would cancel out the savings I would make.

Do you think I am right or am I being daft.

When I have a REALLY big shop to do, I can see it being worth driving 10 miles for Lidl & Bookers Cash & carry. But at the moment I am only spend £40-£50. It barely seems worth it.

Times like this I wish I lived in a town. :o

I have been looking for a free delivery token from Tesco's. but they all seem to be spend £50 get £5 off. Haven't got £50 to spend ....

    Nevermind. Keep going xx
  • Update.

Ok have used EnergyHelpline.com to switch Electricity providers.

I have two meters (1 house / 1 Farm). So hopefully I should save:-

    House = £271 per year & £15 cashback
    Farm = £171 per year & £15 cashback

Yay..thats £442 saved and £30 to go into my account at some point, will probably take ages but will get it eventually.

Ages ago I bought some Miracle beads for projects at my DD school. I have got tonnes of them left, so have decided to do up knecklaces & matching bracelts and try to sell them on Ebay for Stocking fillers. Not sure if it will work but if not, DD gets lots of jewellery.

Am I right in thinking that if they don't sell I don't pay anything with a .99p start?

Off to trawl other money making ideas while I thread beads.

Ps. Is it only me that finds Swagbucks really hard going??

Nope I find swagbucks hard going to, as I keep plugging away I just think of those lovely vouchers :D, even if you only get a few it all helps but my rule of thumb is I only do it when I couldn't be doing something else that gets me more money such as selling on ebay.

I don't find swagbucks that difficult tbh. Sometimes long and boring though :rotfl:

I generally get a daily survey each day, the one from the homepage with the big DATE on it. Maybe a trusted survey every day or two. Videos on the homepage, do some searches maybe about 2 per day for me that credit with points. Sign up to offers, even if they are spam offers, I have two email addresses I use for SB so I don't clog up my personal email address.

I earn about 150-300sb a day. Give me a shout if you want a hand :)
Can't think of anything smart to put here...

Heavens Zepsgal, how on earth do you make 150-300 Swagbucks a day?? I struggle to make 10 .

Maybe I am logging in too late each day, but I never get a survey completed. They are either finished or I am not suitable. but they only tell me that after I have spent 3 minutes filling in details..Grrrrrr

All that I am doing is the Daily poll, NOSO, then on the homepage watching a few videos for 1-2 swagbucks.
If I could get surveys for 70 SB at a time then that might help.

Have tried the tasks, but good heavens, I had to fill in about 50 spaces of URL's for blinking Ken Fisher the other day and I don't think the SB's have been credited yet, but it was ALOT of work for something like 12 SB's.

I know you can't get rich quick on these things, but as I need something like 15000 SB's to get a £10 amazon voucher, it is going to be alot of work to get anywhere near there.

    Maybe I am missing a trick :o

We have nearly got a lake with all this rain, but it is mostly full of chicken/duck and goose poo rather than lovely carp :).

It is something I need to think hard about though. We have 6 acres here and we are not really using it much as we haven't got the barn sorted out to hold livestock yet (because no money :().

We had three pigs this year and they were pretty easy. I am thinking of having more like 6 pigs next year to sell the pork.
Am also considering rearing more ducks to sell as trio's or sell the fertile eggs. Got to get my brain working :o.
  • Morning all.

Have received my CashforGold bag through the post so going to get that filled and sent off today. Fingers crossed I get more than £10 back.

Not going to be a No Spend day today unfortunately. The turkeys are out of food so got to go and get them another few bags of feed. Not long to go with them though, probably about another 2 weeks after this week so the expense of that is soon to end (Sorry Turkeys _pale_)

    so my shopping list is:-

    Turkey feed
    Chicken Feed
Collect Milk - We get unpasturised fresh milk from next door farm)

We desperately need some bits of groceries = Coffee, squash, washing powder. Haven't decided yet, wether to get them or go without until I have next weeks shopping budget..

Really don't want to spend anymore than I have to this week. I am learning that even if we have abit of money in the bank, it is'nt necessarily there to be spent. If I calculate through the month it is VERY tight and got to account for hubby (Self Employed builder) to have at least 1 week off at Christmas. So thats one less weekly wage coming in. Haven't spoken to him about how much time he is having off, hope he is happy with just a week.

Babysitting a friends 2 year old daughter this afternoon, unfortunately it is a favour for a friend, not anything that will make me some money. :(

Hope you all have a good cheap day ahead. Off to have a quick look through everyone diaries etc and drink my coffee before I head to the shops.

    Steph xxx
  • Well this morning was abit different.

Went to go out and get animal feed and milk, to find that the battery on the car was flat. Grrrrrr
If I don't use the car one day, the next day the battery is flat. I either have something unknown draining the battery or the battery isn't holding its charge. The battery isn't that old, maybe 3 years so would hope its not that.

Anyway, decide to walk the 1.1/2 miles to get the milk and post the CashforGold package. That was quite good as me and the dog got some exercise.

Came home and decided that instead of being a feeble woman waiting for hubby to come home and sort it. I got the battery charger out and rigged up the battery. I also had a headlight blown that I was waiting for hubby to change (for ages!!) and decided to tackle that. So I got the manual out and I did it yay:T. I have even managed to start the car now, but in a bid to save petrol. instead of leaving it running and charging. I have turn it off and just leaving the battery charger on until I need to go out later.

I feel quite empowered haha. Silly woman that I am.
