Hi steph, just had a quick read through your diary. Well done on starting your journey it has its good days it has its bad days but the main thing is your working to get it down. I often have them days where its all shoulda woulda coulda but thats no good because we cant turn back the clocks and change our mindset so we have to look to the future and keep smiling. It always helps me to come on here and vent my emotions

Thank you so much, It is nice to have a place to come to vent and babble on about frustrations etc. Especially as I don't like to get hubby too involved in the details as he gets very stressed and moody if I tell him too much. Thankfully I deal with all the money saving & spending. So the debt and the way out of debt pretty much lands in my lap. The only downside to that is I don't often feel like I have anyone to fret to about missing payments and having no cash left etc etc.
Its nice to offload on my diary and my ever faithful and understands MSE'ers.

Hi Steph,
Well done to your son on his sparring, and well done to you for resisting the lure of coffee and cake

Have been giving Christmas a thought.
I have already bought DS & DD and God-childrens presents (mostly from Littlewoods  and CC ) I know.... but did it before LBM. Although they do not have anywhere near what they usually do, Think I have spent £200 each on them. Its usually nearly double that.
So, all I need to do now if sort out their Stockings....I usually get nic-nacs from Hawkins Bazaar etc. Am going to search Amazon for the 50%-99% bargains.
I imagine I need about £20 each to make a half decent stocking.
So tomorrow I am going to spend the day searching for Ebay items that I might be able to sell to raise the £40.
I do have a small bag of broken gold jewellery that I will look into selling.
Its my personal December challenge to offset the cost of these stockings. Fingers Crossed.0 -
Well done for avoiding the lure of the coffee and cake, especially on a cold wet nov day! my DS has packed lunches, I make a homemade pizza sometimes and slice it up and freeze it, then pull out slices when he wants it, i knock up a sauce, so quite cheap, and also i stick wholemeal flour in the pizza dough mixed with the white so a bit healthy! might be worth a try? I reckon it costs about £1.50 for about 12 slices!Having a Consumer Holiday 2015:A0

Pizza is a good idea, thanks for that. I already make HM pizza which is always popular so sure they would love it for lunch.
We kept some pigs this year so have loads of pork in the freezer. We also froze really large bags of sausage meat, so was thinking of making them some HM sausage rolls for school as well. Should make a nice change from sandwiches.

I know, i'm sorry Bob:o:o:o:o:o
In the past, which probably explains my debt, I have always liked to make sure that my children had a sizeable mountain of presents to open on their Birthdays and Christmas.
I think it was abit of insecurity. Always worrying that it will be my children that have the least amount of presents and not wanting them to miss out .
The trouble is as they get older, they want more expensive presents. Which means it cost more and more to provide the toy mountain.
I have explained to them this year that as they wanted an Ipod each and some Wii games that it will not be a huge pile this year. But I still worry that they will have sad dissappointed faces on Christmas morning. I am not sure they believe me.
The trouble is that the Ipod's were £140 each, Wii games are £25+ each, so even though I have spent £200 each, it will look like a tiny amount of toys.
Told you I was awfull with money. I am too emotional. When I am less embarrassed about the amount of debt we are in, I am going to hand the purse strings over to hubby. He is so much meaner and more sensible than me0
