  • Hi Steph just caught up on your diary.

I have every confidence in you that you will be able to stick to your budget and get those big bills paid n December.

How are yo getting on with baking your DD's birthday cake. I would love to bake, but sadly I'm hopeless a it!

    Morning AW,

Just came from your diary, giving you a pep talk hehehe.

I tried the Giant cupcake baking tin and it worked. I also found a tub of different Barblie cake sprinkles in the bottom of my nicnacs draw so will be able to decorate the cake nicely.
All I need is to make sure I add a bag of icing sugar to next weeks Tesco Shop and that cake won't barely cost a thing....Phew.

I am wondering wether to bother with Christmas cards this year????? I hate writing them, I hate receiving them, I really can't see the point?.. Thoughts?

I have £30 allocated for the following, do you think I can do it?

Christmas wrapping paper. Probably about 6 rolls.
Christmas Cards (If I decide to buy them)
5 Small Pass the parcel prizes (DD Birthday)
    Small pack balloons
Stocking fillers for DD & DS
2 XMAS pressie for 2 girls (Extended family coming down)
1 boys Birthday Pressie (DD invited to a party)

Eeeek, writing it down , it looks very tight.

The 2 Xmas pressies and the birthday pressie I expect to pay about £5 each. Its the stocking fillers that scare me. I used to go to Hawkins Bazaar, but thats too expensive. Am going to try Wilkinsons and the pound shops.

This is going to be the thing that breaks my budget is I am not careful.

If I go over the £30 it will have a knock on effect to January where the beginning is quite tight as Hubby does'nt get paid over Christmas.

Do you think I can do it? Am putting off when I will go in as I am scared of mucking it up and spending loads. Am thinking of doing it tomorrow.

Hope you all have a good day x

Hi ya, I hate Xmas cards too I didn't send any last year and only did them this year because I had some left over. Nobody want in a huff because they didn't get one and they're still speaking to me!

Wilko's are great for party things, I'm just off there now for a few bits. x

Goo luck with the shopping, when you have a list and a budget it does help to stop you from overspending.

I don't send many Christmas cards just to a couple of older relatives who it really means something to, and a couple for work, so I'm still working my way through a pack I bought a couple of years ago :rotfl:and I bought those on Christmas eve half price ready for the following year. :D

  • I'm back :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:.

Well I popped my Pound Shop cherry :rotfl:.

Wow so much temptation and I kinda had abit of a disaster :o

I got a couple of extra things = 2 packs of batteries, Drinks bottles for kids & candy canes for the tree :o:o:o:o.

THEN......I kinda of mis-calculated as I had drawn out £30 from the cash point and my bill came to £31.. There was such a queue behind me, I did'nt have the guts to put back the batteries or something so I paid on my CARD :mad::mad::mad::mad:.

Trouble is I still did'nt have everything, so I went next door to Wilkinsons and managed to get the 3 presents for the girls and a couple more stocking filler things .

My total spend for both shops came to came to £46 :(:(:(:(:(:(.

I am such a rubbish shopper. But I have to remember that in years gone by I have spent over £100 on stocking fillers alone so it's an improvement.

I have got everything now so it feels good to be finished.

I might be able to claw some of it back as I don't think I need to do much of a shop for food next week. I am planning on going to Lidl to get Christmas bits like cheeses etc and veg.
My budget is £70 so I might be able to only spend around £50 to even up my over-spend today.

    Cricky.....Need a strong coffee now

No Bob, The children of today cannot cope with not getting a prize everytime they get to open a layer. thankfully DD only has 4 girls coming over, so bought them a Poundshop pack of pencils each time they open a layer. :o;)

They get a prize for each layer really  wow no wonder Kids parties cost so much now, least you were able to get bits from the poundshop, Can't help wondering how some of these kids are going to cope in the real world

At least you managed to spend less than in other years that's a good start, and fingers crossed for you clawing some back from your food shopping. :)
