lurvelyloz, I love your idea of telling them the pile in the same size they just got bigger lol, but I have to disagree on wagon wheels, I'm sure they are smaller now nothing to do with me being a grown up :)

On a serious note, they prob won't even notice, and I'm sure they will love the presents that you have got for them, so try not to worry.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hello Steph
Just a thought, I wondered whether there might be any others in your area that would consider starting up a buying group for bigger dry goods etc. I have read about this, so you could order from someone like Infinity foods or Suma, who sell loads of tins and pulses, dried good like rice, pasta etc, and you could then benefit from the sorts of savings that you could make had you been to Lidl, Aldi etc. Only a thought and its all very well to say it but I was thinking you could advertise your desire to meet like minded folk on twitter or a local forum (again, these things are plentiful in my area so forgive me if you are thinking yeah right! in the country)

Aaaw poor Bob. Don't feel left out :grouphug:.

Have not had a NSD today I am affraid. Had to order some cheap batteries to go in a couple of the childrens Christmas Presents. I also know that the inlaws have bought things for the children that require batteries, and I know they won't supply them with the presents.

I have also got to figure out how much it is going to cost me to make DD's birthday cake. I am sure it will be cheaper than the usual £45 cake I buy from M&S but got to be careful that it does'nt work out not much different in price.

Not much else on today. Hubby is outside trying to figure out what is wrong with our car. The battery keeps going flat, I have a friend that works in a car parts shop who said I can use his discount to get a new car battery on Monday, but I think its still going to cost me around £45 so if hubby can find out what the problem is, it might still save us some money.

Hope you all have a cheap MSE weekend.
    Steph

  • Morning all,

We yesterday hubby managed to fit an extra battery (spare one we used for Electric fencing) into the car, so I now have 2 batteries. Hopefully that will solve the problem. but if its something that is draining the battery then it won't last for long. but at least it is a process of elimination without using the luxury of a garage mechanic on £30 per hour to fix it.

I have been beating myself up something terrible for buying those batteries yesterday. It is really silly, because I HAD to buy them because its no point having Christmas toys without batteries, but it did'nt stop me feeling like the frittering of money had started again . This month is just too hard to go cold turkey on the spending :(.

I also realised in the dead of the night last night, that I am one short of a present for DS.
MIL was stuck for what to get him, so she asked me to order some Lego for him on a 3 for 2 on Littlewoods. I did and she paid me the £30 but I need to get up into the attic and look at the toys as I am worried it has been delivered and I have added it to his presents thinking it was one I had ordered from us and now I have to give it to them to wrap up....eeeek I am soooo forgetful.

Anyway, Lovely Sunday today, no spending.

Got to keep in control next week, I can feel myself feeling the Christmas pressure.

Hope you are all getting the bit of cold sunshine we are having here in Dorset.

    xx

    Hi Steph,

This is always a difficult time of year for reducing spend, all you can do is your best, and maybe start making some plans ready for the new year. And I agree no point in presents without batteries so I wouldn't beat yourself up about those :)
