Virgin SBT?

    Yes it does seem to be causing some confusion!

    Martin's post indicated that it was clear that there was no fee for an SBT - and that seems to have been the experience of many who have done it - but not all.

    The terms and conditions clearly include the word 'MAY' be charged.....so it seems to be in the lap of the god (ie Mr. Branson).

    Any views on how this can best be clarified?

    I'll be looking for further "intelligence" on this with interest! -- I've just sent off my signed agreement form today and, having read some of the comments, may well ring up to do my SBT before the card arrives. I think I will check whether they're planning to charge an SBT fee before I decide whether to BT it direct to current account or instead 'mule' it via my eggy-green card...

    I called Virgin yesterday (still haven't received my card). My new account was opened on Tues this week, did my 95% SBT with no fee charged.

    I think it is often down which call centre staff you are dealing with and how well trained they are on their products. I may be mistaken but I think the same call centre staff manage all cards owned by MBNA.

    As different cards have different deals I think confusion arises with charges in the new or not so well trained staff. Always ask to speak with a manager if you think you have been wrongly charged or advised.. I have had many BT charges waivered (Tesco, Abbey, MBNA) by speaking with a manager.

    Well, I did my SBT yesterday - and it was as clear and smooth as you could wish. ( haven't yet got my card).

    It was the agent who explicitly told me there would be fee "because it is in the introductory period". I did not have to ask (but I did confirm what she said).

    I was also able to transfer 100% of my credit limit "...no problem...".

    The call centre staff (on the 3 calls I have made) have all been excellent - and it does make me more likely to transact business with Virgin in the future.

    I did my SBT from my Virgin credit card to my current account earlier this month. The stoozed money is now safely tucked away in my savings account :D.

    I received my first Virgin CC statement through the post yesterday. I had a detailed look through it and I can confirm that there were no charges mentioned at all on the statement.

    Bit confused with your post tenby deckchair. Is your question to me?

    If so, I haven't been charged by Virgin. I think it's important to remember that Virgin say they may charge for a balance transfer. This doesn't mean they will. They have to inform you of any charges at the time you arrange the SBT. They told me that I wouldn't be charged, as my SBT was done during the 9 month 0% period. My Virgin CC statement confirms what they told me over the phone.

  • just spoke to virgin who said they charged,i told her people were saying they did'nt,she then asked are you mbna or virgin card holder.''VIRGIN CARD HOLDERS ARE NOT CHARGED'' just done me sbt :-}}

    It is worth perservering as I do think some call centre staff get the various T&C's of different MBNA cards mixed up.. Glad to here you weren't charged. :)
