Thats fair enough, it can be a PITA sitting doing something like that for hours. I hope you can get your files open. Personally I would have scanned every page as a JPG then converted them all to 7 pdf document(s).
True but my laptop won't read PDF documents, even though I have Adobe on it.
I can read the files with the programme I've downloaded but want to make sure it will work with external hard drives too.0 -

It will work with external drives. The program does not care where the file is just what type of file ^_^Laters

Sixtiesgal, if i want a copy or scan these days I just use my camera as it is often good enough. even my phones 8mp one gives amazing results. Its quicker too
Adobe is just a company that makes many products, like pdf reader -acrobat. image editor -photoshop, camera picture image manipulator-lightroom, freehand drawing package-illustrator, web page designer-dreamweaver and the list does on... Easy to get them all confused as many do similar things.0 -
Strange format to give to customer, great fot initial scanning, but would have thought they then turn them into pdf document.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

I have tried with my camera but it didn't seem to work, I have a small digital camera (just a snap shot one) and a Blackberry Pearl phone which takes small pictures.
The company were going to scan to PDF for me but because I can't read it on my laptop they had to do it to tiff files.0 -
I think you have not understood how pdf files work. Scanning your notebooks to pdf would be the best way to go. A pdf file is a universal ''image'' file that can be read on any pc. The software (Adobe Reader) is available for free and I cannnot understand why you say it does not work on your pc. Do you have a Mac or something really old ? If you have a normal Windows PC then you should load Adobe Reader (for free) and try again to open and read some pdf files. Once you are sure that you can read pdf then you could arrange to have your tiff files converted to pdf.
By the way what does your scanning person say about your problem ?0 -

Adobe do not give much away for free, but they do give away the pdf viewer - Acrobat
However many find this pdf viewer here is better as you can add comments and things to unprotected pdf files

The company sent me a test disk before they scanned my notebooks, one test was a PDF file and my laptop wouldn't read it, it just comes up with a small dot in the middle of the page, it also does this when I scan anything myself to PDF or I try to download a PDF form off the Internet. I do have a newish Packard Bell laptop (Windows 7).
I have to email the company as they dropped the disk and books off tonight.0 -
