To cancel your sub channels but keep the Sky+ facility.
But it's a daft move, as it will still cost you £120pa, for a little more than that you can buy a Freesat Humax PVR at no ongoing cost.
It's a straight box swap, no installing required.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Thanks macman, i think after consideration we will be going for the freesat. As you said, that way there are no ongoing costs.

Much thanks to everyone who cleared up all the questions i had :)

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Can i just ask if you can pause and rewind from all HDR PVR boxes?
Also someone has mentioned that you need a card (£25) to view freesat channels can you tell me if this is the case and where to get one if it is?

One last question, does it need an internet connection also?

Yes thats what a PVR does.

No thats for Freesat from Sky which is a different service.

One last question, does it need an internet connection also?

Some of them do for catch up services, you'll need to check out the specs.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • Thankyou :)
