some time ago and as it was mis-sold (they said we could use without a roof top aerial and we couldn't) it was all sent back.
Mt question now is can you connect up a freesat box to a sky dish?
We are looking to reduce our bills and go for a freesat box but as we don't have a roof top aerial don't know if this is a viable option...............
Any help will be gratefully received

If you have an old Sky box then you could use that, although not for Sky +. Just a thought. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Pick up an old Sky box cheap, connect it to your dish and you'll get most of the free to air channels. For odd ones that are still encoded but free to view you have to give Sky £25 for a viewing card, it also regionalises the box. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Hi, am i right then in thinking you cannot pause, rewind or get HD channels? whereas we could with the freesat HD box?DEBT FREE AND PROUD'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt'0

Yes, a Sky+ box will only work as a receiver if you don't have a Sky subscription or pay Sky the £10/month Sky+ fee.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Why would you need an aerial to get Freesat? An aerial is for terrestial services, Freesat is a satellite service, as the name suggests. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Hi, i don't know. When we went for the vision box they stipulated that you must have a roof top aerial (this was after we were told you didn't) so i just assumed as freesat is a similar thing it would be the same?DEBT FREE AND PROUD'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt'0 -
No-Freesat is not the same thing at all. It's a satellite service via your dish-a completely different platform to Freeview, and no aerial is required.
A rooftop aerial is not 'required' for Freeview, but in most cases a set-top aerial is inadequate to get a decent Freeview signal. No one can tell you what reception you may get when advising you on the phone. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Oh right i didn't know that thanks
The picture quality was rubbish with the vision box. We tried tuning sons freeview tv using a set top aerial but all we got was a snowy screen!DEBT FREE AND PROUD'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt'0
