She wants to leave him, but she doesn't like hurting people and therefore cant leave him.
She needs to realise that you only get one life..........and by not leaving she is hurting herself.[0 -
Actually, any large gift not discussed jointly would annoy me.
Oh is generous with his mum, but just his mum; extended family can look after themselves.
I would be very annoyed if expensive gifts came from a tight budget.
My mum is very generous and very hard to buy for, so these days don't really bother (I no longer go at Christmas as she is getting too old to have us) and try and bring various goodies when we see her.
Unfortunately, as there is a strong cutural element in his behaviour, it will be quite difficult to discuss. Good luck.I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
Hi
His spending so much money without discussion would drive me insane no matter what his reasons.
Im with a spender so we only have a joint account for bills then we have our own accounts that spending money goes into, perhaps you could do something similar or perhaps set up a pressie account. So over the year you save up say 1k to cover all the pressie costs.
Your not going to stop him spending but perhaps you could agreed to a more planned method so he has a chunk to spend.0 -
OP I feel your pain, my OH supports his dad (oh dad lives with my oh) he doesn't help him with the bills. Didn't get a christmas present last year nor a birthday present this year my OH is still happy to buy him tickets for what ever he wants and carry on supporting him with getting nothing in return.
This riles me something rotten but if I try to bring up the subject it ends up in a argument about me not liking his dad (which isn't true) etc. I just see that he's having the mick taken out of him but he isn't prepared to do anything about it. Stuck between a rock and a hard place really.
