Fixed Penalty Notice..... Gobsmacked!
Driving my 6 year old son to school this morning and looks in my mirror and the blue lights are flashing me to pull over
I honestly had no idea what I had done as I wasnt speeding as I had just went round a small mini-roundabout, I had my seatbelt on and DS was strapped into his car seat and I wasnt using a mobile, so I gets out the car and he asks me if I knew why they had stopped me... NO.... so apparently I drove round the roundabout wrong, my back tyres went over the white painted area....... fair enough but a £30 fine, its a tiny tight junction buses and larger vehicles go round it that way all day every day!
But to make it worse after I had dropped DS at school I pulled in to call OH to let him know and I see another mum doing the school run getting pulled over for the same thing but it was one of my neighbours so they walked to her car saw who she was laughed waved and walked away because she is a POLICEWOMAN!
Is this minor offence really classed as a traffic offence that can be forced with a fine?
Thanks in advance for any experience or advice folks.

The Highway code is not the law. You cannot be given a fixed penalty notice for breaking a highway code rule. The ticket has to be for a specific offence as written in an Act of Parliament or Statutory Instrument.
Partially driving over a painted mini-roundabout is not, in itself, an offence.
We need to know what offence and code was written on the ticket. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.
We belong to the Earth0 -

The tickets states:
I have reason to believe that you have committed a fixed penalty offence, namely
Failing to obey a mini roundabout
Then it has the date time etc0 -

some mini roundabouts are impossible to negotiate without driving over the white painted area in the middle."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

There is a mini roundabout outside my house that you have to drive over as there is not enough room to drive around it.0

This may technically be an offence but surely the police have better things to do. Very sorry for you. A close relative is a police officer and she confirms there are some complete dlckheads in the force.Je suis sabot...0
