There is definitely a problem.The_ICT_Engineer wrote: »In the local library tonight, noted signs warning people not to attempt to access the website on the library computers. Had a word with one of the staff, seems that accessing the site, results in the locking up the computers. But than they do date from 2002 and did not get XP installed until this year. Underpowered and lack of memory
You shouldn't need anything powerful to access the website & basic website information it is displaying.0 -

Anyone tried completing a profile on this?
It's asking me to do it now, but I can't get past the "Skills you want to be matched with" field.
I have no previous experience, and qualifications I have are gained through school (e.g. A-Levels, GCSE), and the only other one I could claim & prove, is a company own in-house training, that's to a very specific field I don't want to work in! haha, and wouldn't come up on the list anyway.
As it's required I can't save a profile?! Crazy!

Also - just done a search within 5 miles of my postcode. I'm being shown jobs from 116 miles away.
Postcode is not typed incorrectly. Glad my Advisor can see this, will ask if they'll cover my travel expenses for an interview that far away.

Topped it, reached 221 miles.0 -

When I signed on on Monday, the guy next to me on the job points searched for local jobs and got one in Canada!0 -

You know that. They know you know that. You know they know you know that but just you try telling them that!
As far as they're concerned, they've done a great job of revitalising the job search page, made it far better (though its harder to use) and now there is absolutely no reason for you not to be finding work. Also - just done a search within 5 miles of my postcode. Not uncommon. It's DWP statistic fiddling. Because they've matched you with jobs, that means that there are jobs there for you to apply for which means they can turn it around on you at any time for a) not applying for them or b) not being prepared to apply for them because THERE ARE JOBS OUT THERE!!!0 -
Well if they want me to relocate, for a job, completely outside of what I agreed with them, for £6.80 an hour, for 20 hours per week (£7072 p.a.) then they can very well pay for me when I'm living on the streets.0

They won't want you to relocate but as I said its DWP statistic fiddling. Why? Keeps the ministers happy and convinced that there ARE jobs out there, makes the DWP look like its actually doing a good job and it also gives ministers an excuse to claim the economy is on the way up (even though it isn't and they know we know that).0

I've just started using the new site and have noticed a couple of problems. When I uploaded my CV in word format and then viewed it, the formatting was incorrect. For some strange reason some headings were in red. Is this what the employer is seeing?
Also when I applied for a job I expected to be able to include a cover letter, but no. It appears that all that was sent to the employer was my (messed up) CV.
I would much rather send a simple email with complete control over what the employer receives.0 -
I have applied for 20ish with no contact details just google the company name and sent an email and cover letterI don't like it either. I haven't registered yet and might not bother as my JSA has just finished.
I got results to come up if I just typed my post code & clicked search & then narrowed the distance to 10 miles for example.
Don't type "all jobs" or anything - don't put anything in left-hand or middle boxes. Just post code - worked for me.
Won't be able to apply for vacancies that do no have contact details without registering.0 -
I've just managed to log in after three days of trying. I live in Leicester and it found me five jobs, three in Birmingham and two in Derby. This is with the filter set to within 10 miles of my postcode. Birmingham is 42 miles away and Derby is 47 miles away. Plus I can't get any of the skills I want to match to enter (I can only find two suitable skills in the list and some of them don't make any sense).0
