Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 20th November 2012. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Up at stupid o'clock here, overnight work on the nearby railway line, plus a punch up between the 2 ladies in the corner house which involved the police being called & then next door neighbour getting up noisily at 4 to go to work, I've given up & got up.
I had a lovely visit from my DD's last night, unexpected as the text they sent Monday, telling me they were popping over, didn't arrive til after their visit. Lots of news, giggles & nattering.
I baked chocolate cake, victoria sponge & flapjack last night for work today, I need to go & make the cheese palmiers now so they will be warm to take to work this morning.
On the subject of age, I'm 61, but feel 40 & happy that way.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all - not a lot to report here; very quiet times. Up early because apparently I'd had enough sleep by 3.30. Dinner tonight is lamb, mash and peas; still working through freezer contents. I think December will be fairly frugal even though it's Christmas. Working a half-day this morning, and had a productive work day yesterday dealing with internal audit. A friend of a friend is coming Sunday to take our spare sofa, as part of the Great Declutter 2012. Then we can rearrange the diningroom, and I might even get my dining-table back - we've been eating off trays for months. I'd happily part company with the stereo, but DH wants it still for his LPs although he never plays them. Doing well on taking food into work instead of buying it there, and working through all the household paperwork to get a real picture of where we stand. Considering consolidating 4 small work pension pots into my current one just to make life simpler. On the way home last night I managed to get a £4.44 rack of ribs with Bourbon sauce in Mr T for £1.79 and it was lovely.

I have never contributed to this thread before so this is my first time, will see if I manage to keep up with everything!
I am making a slow cooker chicken casserole with new potatoes (have no 'old' ones in unfortunately and looking for a NSD) and dumplings. May even bake a banana related desert for my husband as a treat too. Have got some items that I have listed on freecycle today (broken lamp and used pillows) in the hope that someone wants them rather than having to throw them out (always feels wasteful throwing anything out!) and generally just doing my flylady jobs and relaxing as only have 2 days before I'm back to work again!
Hope everyone has a lovely day! I didn't go to sleep at all last night and now I am going to perhaps try and stay awake with just a nap so as not to ruin my sleep pattern too much! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. morning!
welcome to Katie!:)
I'm up early for work, just having a cuppa before I go. DH is coming back in a while to take Louie dog to the vet for his op - he's wondering why I havent given him his usual breakfast poor thing!
Was awoken by the phone at midnight:mad: stopped ringing by the time I got to it and it was some strange number I didn't know so I didn't return the call. We are occasionally annoyed by stupid calls with just buzzing/screeching on the other end at stupid o'clock.
Not a clue what to get for tea - plenty in but am not organised enough to do a meal plan every week.
Have a great day all. Looks like it's going to be wet!Do what you love :happyhear0 -
just popped back to wish Hester a very happy birthday:beer:Do what you love :happyhear0

Good morning all,
Happy birthday Hester :bdaycake:hope you have a lovely day.
Still very dark and cold outside. It's not raining though.
No work for me today, i feel awful. My cold has really come out now, ache from head to toe, so not really a good idea to share it around at work.
Tea tonight is chicken breasts. Don't know what to do with them yet. Maybe with a salad and potatoes.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning :hello: Welcome Katy :hello:
Happy Birthday Hester :bdaycake:
It would seem that my social life is being arranged by other people  I've been booked to go somewhere I don't like, with people I don't want to see (well I like a couple of them). If I don't get asked to go then they won't mind paying for my bacardis, will they? Apparantly they wanted me there. I have no idea why - I was miserable last time we went out and I haven't exactly been a nice person lately. Also a ticket has been booked for a carol concert that I knew nothing about.
As I'm soooooooo popular, I'm obviously worth it. So mr tru won't mind me getting new clothes, shoes and a haircut. Maybe some proper yoga lessons, if there's a decent teacher round here.
I think a wardrobe audit is in order, then I'm going to practice my crochet and eat cake.Bulletproof0 -
Damn - DH has just gone to his car to go to work and someone's smashed a window. Not sure if they've nicked anything. It was only in January that our previous car got burnt out because someone torched the car in front for insurance purposes according to the police"Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Morning all,
Been MIA for quite a while but still an OSer.
Just put the BM on and having a coffee. Had some ys lamb steaks last night, delicious. Today DH is going into the loft to get crimble paper down so I can make a start wrapping. I've been shoping from my sofa for the last week so I've loads to wrap. Popped to (dis) Asda y/day to get some dolls house furniture for DGD3, half price @ £12 for a large box. I bought a dolls house for her 2yrs ago when it was reduced from £65 to £14. Lurv saving money.
Dinner tonight will be stuffed chicken breasts pots and broccoli. DH will have HM soup for lunch.
Sorry I have no idea what has been happening on here but will try to catch up.
Hope you all have a good day.
Happy Birthday Hester _party_0
