I just bung what I've got in the pressure cooker - blitz it for about 15 minutes and then puree it. It's really tasty and costs buttons to make. Plenty of salt and pepper and some fresh bread. yum!0

In fact - (delayed reaction) a pressure cooker is great for anything like this - much quicker and cheaper than a pan. Stew especially is really tasty. You can make it with tinned steak too. Try it!0

I just fancy the idea of the soup maker as I have no blender or anything and I could leave it and nip out if need be0

I absolutely LOVE mine and use it at least twice a week (making 3 to 4 portions worth each time) Hubby loves having a mug of soup with his lunchtime sandwiches0

Another big saucepan (with a lid for the condensation), kitchen timer (come alarm clock?) and hand blender here.
A soup maker sounds to me like yet another candidate for the kitchen cupboard gadget museum. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

Do u have to blitz the veg 1st
Depends what you are after a smooth or chunky soup, I mostly do chunky soup or occasionally blitz with a stick blender.
Cut veg to the size you'd prefer and most soups will cook in no time at all. A good quality pan with a good fit lid stops condensation (but then again soup not on that long depending what you have in it).
Make a big pan and then put in the fridge for the next day and freezer some for later.
Great way to use up veg if it needs using, and add some meat from the roast, throw in lentils for flavour, bulk and thickening. If you want part smooth, part chunky remove some of the contents, blitz remainder with a stick blender and then put the stuff you took out back in.
Good soup is a Christmas soup a day or two after Christmas, use meat stock any left over veg, stuffing, potatoes, meat from the joint, cranberry sauce, bread sauce etc. and ham from the buffet.
Simmer for about 20 mins and you have a lovely soup. Season to taste if you need to.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
I make soup at least once a week throughout the whole year, and have never felt the need for anything other than a large saucepan and a hand blender if I want a smooth soup rather than a chunky one. we live in a tiny cottage, so don't have much room for 'specialty' gadgets - saucepans, on the other hand, are multi-functional!Save £12k in 2014 - No. 153 - £1900/£9000

I love my induction hob for making soup on. It has a timer and can be set to a bare simmer and I can just leave it to get on with the job. Better then the slow cooker at times0

I love my soup maker, I wouldn't bother with the expensive cuisinart one though, mine only lasted a couple of months,( got a full refund from good old lakeland).. I then bought a cooks professional one from Ebay for around £30, and I love it..can be used to make sauces and smoothies too.
Must admit I use my slow cooker for larger portion soup making.Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
