So although I think a soup maker would be a waste of money for me, admittedly I did spend a lot on the stockpot. But it's for life, not just 3 years.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I do not want a stockpot bubbling away on the hob nor a large saucepan either. I'm asking for views on my choice of either a microwave pressure cooker or a soup maker.
So has anybody used a microwave pressure cooker please?0 -
Sorry LadyDee - I've never used a Microwave Pressure Cooker. I've seen them advertised on various shopping channels, but as I'm happy and content with the pressure cookers I've already got, I've not felt the need to spend further.
To be honest, I've bought so many 'bits and bobs' of microwave cookware - that have 'promised much and delivered little' - that I completely steer clear of anything more bits of plastic that just get pushed inside the darn thing.0 -
we have a slow cooker but it takes longer to get it out of the cupboard than it does to prep the veg and probably cook the soup in a pan.
In honesty it's probably only good value if you are going to use it a lot - if it's just going to be another gadget that will get left on the side and used rarely it's probably not worth it. If you eat a lot of soup/think you will use it regularly then it may be a good investment.
Personally I go through phases of loving or not being so keen on soup so when i do fancy it i just make up more portions and freeze the extra ones so it would be pointless for me. Actually even if I still lived with my parents I don't think it would be cost effective************************************

I have! Me! Me! I've used a microwave pressure cooker. Mum gave me her cheap one when she decided it was not really any good and she wanted a better one. (Why she thought I would want one that was no good is beyond me LOL.) So, anyway, she went on to buy an expensive one to replace it with and surprise, surprise it was still unutterably carp!
I've also used a soup maker and, while I guess they do an OK job my personal opinion is that you're much better off cooking it in a pan with a well fitting lid then using a stick blender.
(I no longer do any of the above as I have a Thermomix: wash veg, place in machine, press buttons and soup in 7 minutes... like a soup maker but so much more!)
Do you actually have a hob? Or are your options constrained by a lack of one?Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

I paid less than a fiver for my whizzer, so with a £10 slowcooker you've got a soupmaker.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I do not want a slow cooker or a pan on the hob. Oh, I give up - I'll buy a microwave pressure cooker and see for myself.0
