Excuse me butting in here because i haven't had the time to follow the whole thread, are you two talking about a specific authority or national practice?
Allocation rules still vary depending on where you are. Some mirror LHA rules but not all do. Sorry if I've not kept up.
While Morecock is reading..... We are looking at one particular allocation policy in the North East. Whilst the rules vary, I'm not aware of any allocation policy that restricts one household size to one property type.0 -

Ie someone entitled to 2 bed can bid on 1 - 3, they allow above r below, I am not 100% sure how the prioritise outside your allocation but do allow bidding. That is why my family member has a 2 bed as a single person.
Not at all uncommon..... And just one reason why I haven't bothered checking my wallet!0 -
Understood. I accept what you both say and don't require you to quote your sources!0

its nice down there and glad your settled
your old area sounds like an area i know where nearly everyone talks scouse..
thing is i love my home not just cause i have a bedroom
but the neighbours, easy access to local shops and shopping centre, close to the hosiptal which is prob the main reason.
i can afford the £14 its not the point on that its the princable,
was gonna refuse point blank to pay and go to jail for it.
but found out they wont jail me they will evict instead. :eek:0 -

No, it does not. It indicates that if no other offers on that property are received by potential candidates, the property may be offered to a shared carer. It does not state, if the advert reads 'Suitable for a single person' feel free to bid on this property even if you only have entitlement to one-bedroom.lighting_up_the_chalice wrote: »Unless you can find the bit of the policy that restricts single applicants to 1 bedroom?
I never argued that single applicants were restricted to one-bedroom.0 -

My GF (god rest his soul) did the same on Poll Tax, principles do come into this at times.
He only paid as my GM did behind his back, not sure how it would have worked if she hadn't, but he had his principles and stuck to them.0 -

Read the passage from the allocations policy you quoted. The important 3 words are "suitably sized flat". Now, can you find a definition, within the same policy, of what is deemed "suitable"? ie is there anything to suggest that a 2 bed flat would NOT be suitable for a single person?I never argued that single applicants were restricted to one-bedroom.
Oh yes you did. In fact, you said that the contrary view was "Absolute rubbish".
I'm just about to order a take-away with that tenner.0 -
