How does the Oyster card work? I live in Kent. Will it give me free tube travel in London?

    What's the deal?

If you ever travel around London using public transport, an Oyster card is a must. Single tube journeys costing £4 cost £1.50 with Oyster, and bus single bus journeys are £1 with the card instead of (an outrageous) £2 without.

    How do I get one?

Click through to the Free Oyster Card Promotion and fill in the form for your free Oyster. Do it soon, because the offer is limited to 100,000 free cards.

    Anything else I should know?

The offer is only open to new customers, one card per person/application.

LOL that's right, you show Martin who's boss :-p
  • Unfortunately, I've ordered my Oyster Card last week and had to pay the 3 quid deposit.

Terrific! I have been meaning to get Oyster cards for us all because we don't often go to London but the In-Laws live there, and it would save us a bit. Have signed up the whole family!
Signature removed for peace of mind
  • Hope they both get one or one will be disappointed.
    thanks for this tip.
they travel to London all the time visiting Grandma and friends and hadn't organised themselves enough to get one of these.
