  • :DWell done X Spender! I had my first pay from my new job and I got the figure I asked for!:D:D:D:j:j:j:jHad a wonderful week and still got my own jobs at home done. Another NSD as I've been too occupied earning rather than spending! Just realised I put the ingredients into the breadmaker this afternoon and forgot to put it on! A bit late in the day but at least it will be done for the morning! I still have a shepherds pie over from last nights cooking so that will do for tomorrow with some veggies.I spent a couple of hours cooking today at "the house" and I find it so easy to throw meals together after being part of the grocery challenge. I am going to print out a few favourites I think to have ready for next week if they want anything cooked I can come up with suggestions. It was strange today to go to Waitrose and do someone elses shopping and sort of disregard the spending-tho I did get the offers on the requested items rather than just buying just anything! The daughter liked my sausage casserole-had been looking forward to it all day apparantly and declared it was yummy! So pleased by that as she has lost her mum who I am sure was an excellent cook and I knew I had a standard to meet! So glad Ive spent so much time on here where unwittingly we gather a lot of skills and greatly improve on those we have. Keep up the good work newbies-it is worth it!:money:

  • Sounds lovely, glad you are happy in your new job. Sad to hear the daughter has lost her Mum :(

Just been out and done my final spend for the week, had a bit of a shock my Dad's parcel cost just under £12 to post! Running on fumes finance wise, still need to get household stuff from Wilkos but will be walking to Sains to get the other stuff needed and using nectar points!

Spend today £2.27 in Greengrocers, miffed because I bought loose mushrooms and I think I would have been better off buying the punnet :( Don't think it was any cheaper then the supermarkets either, oh well it was closest and it's done now.

Crazy busy this week so haven't been on at all hardly!!

Updating my grocery spends with a little shop of 23.15 yesterday. Think I'm still on course, won't be spending anything else until Mr Sainsbobs comes on Friday with Christmas in the back of his truck :D

Have a great weekend everyone :)

So glad its worked out for you Angelatgraceland. Its great that you've directed your grief etc to helping out others and I'm sure they will really benefit from it as will you.

Well get child benefit pay on monday and was worried how I would exist on only £30 for the last 2 weeks since my big online shop but I've done it!! It probably helped that we've all been too ill to go anywhere for the last week and DH is good at just buying whats on list. Hopefully will only need top ups for next couple of weeks to next big payday in January.

  • Well OH bought milk yesterday, and some cream to make peppercorn sauce for his steak (I was out), and no idea what else, so I will update when he lets me know. This month it feels like spends are out of control, I know it looks like we have loads left in the budget but I allocated extra for OH to buy treats at Christmas (we don't host Christmas meal or anything, but he likes to get loads of desserts, crisps, snacks etc).

Plus before he left this morning (he's out doing some Christmas shopping), he said "fish and chips today?", which was on the meal plan, but not delivered with the shopping. Don't fancy it at all and was hoping he'd forgotten as I'd rather make some kind of veg stew/curry to use up what we have, but he wasn't impressed and said he wants "something meaty". Bit cheeky when he had a steak last night and we only eat meat 2-3 times a week!!

Bought bread, cheese and butter all Mr S basics and will add the total when I find where I put the receipt. I won't count the butter as it is all to make Christmas cake as a gift and all the other ingredients have come out of the present budget so far.

I have discovered 24 eggs in the fridge this evening:eek: Guess who had omelettes for tea;). I have used 4 for one Christmas cake, will need 8 for a Christmas cake and a Victoria sponge tomorrow and the other 12 are dated until the 26th so should not get wasted. I just can't believe i didn't see them especially when I haven't had my fridge stuffed full these last couple of weeks.

Phew, finally caught up on the thread!! :santa2:

Congratulations on your new jobs XSpender and angelatgraceland!! :T

I have gone WAY OVER my budget this month!! I haven't managed one GC this year but apart from this months rather large indiscretion it hasn't been too horrific so next year it will be a new year and a new focus on keeping in budget!! ;)

Spent around £6 in Waitrose earlier this week, mainly on OJ and ice cream; which has come in handy as I've got tonsillitis again!! Twice in the last two and half months!! :(

Sainsbugs today £64.95 (that's after £5 points deduction, although did have an extra points voucher and a double points voucher so that's built up my points again).

Lidl £8.26. Can't believe 500g in pasta is nearly a quid in SM's, picked up a couple of packets!

Won't need to buy anything now until next months budget on the 20th and I'll buy veggies and a turkey for Christmas out of that but everything else has already been bought.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend! :rudolf:

Ha ha, glad it's not just me! Don't feel as bad now! :o

Got a massively unnecessary spend of £45.73 to declare  as I sent OH to Aldi with a very specific list which should have cost about £30 after vouchers . But, hey, we'll never run out of cheese, cereal, butter or biscuits. I hope he realises that instead of a lovely venison steak for christmas dinner it will be cheesy omelette! :rotfl:So just over £15 to spend until the 23rd Dec but I think that we've got enough for meals to last til the 29th Dec now! Hope no-one wants fruit or veg this week! :(
