Actually, I've just checked that link and it technically IS truly u/l BUT they allow 10gb/mth at full speed then throttle to 384k thereafter (midday to midnight) until the end of the month. Luckily it doesn't affect my son as he doesn't do anything like that a month (he did 6gb last month) but it's worth bearing in mind if you go over 10gb/mth you will have to pay more at 3. Horses for courses, I suppose.Virgin Media reserves the right to impose network protection controls which may reduce your speed of transmission if your data usage is excessive and not in keeping with that reasonably expected of a private individual.
For customers who joined Virgin Media after 25 June 2012 excessive use over 10GB of data per calendar month will result in their maximum bandwidth being restricted to 3G speeds (384kbit/s) on our network between midday and midnight. For customers who joined before 25 June 2012 excessive use over 2GB of data per calendar month will result in this restriction being applied. This policy will apply until the end of the calendar month, when it will be automatically removed. We reserve the right to review these usage levels from time to time. At this reduced speed, customers will still be able to browse web pages, send/receive emails, and stream audio and video all at 3G data speeds, but peer-to-peer and large file downloads/uploads will be slower than normal.
As an example, a customer would have to watch over 45 hours of high quality video before that threshold is reached. Typically far less than 0.1% of our customers will be affected on a monthly basis.0 -

Thanks for that - I missed it when I searched. Interesting that the acceptable use policy for PAYG specifically excludes tethering, which at least implies that it is ok on pay monthly as it is not mentioned in that acceptable use policy. There's love in this world for everyone. MillicentBystander, you are indeed very thorough. Or should I say 'wise' in the case of documenting promises made my mobile phone companies....0

Have discovered with Virgin the tethering is allowed but on iPhone is complicated. As Virgin share Orange and TMobile even though the same behave differently depending which network the Virgin network is using at the time, which shows differently as virgin or Virgin ( I.e the capital is key). When on the TMobile network on iPhone the personal hotspot and tethering is enabled but not when on the Orange.
GiffGaff allows tethering also but the iPhone tethering does now work on iPhone at all but Android seems OK.0 -
Just received my Ovivo sim after first hearing about it here (and thanks for that, as it seems a terrific deal for £10 one off deposit then rolling allowance of 100 mins. 100 text and 200mb thereafter).
However, have absolutely no idea how much usage 200 mb is? Can anyone give a rough idea of what this would be? Hope this doesn't sound too daft a question but have never had internet access via a mobile phone before so am a beginner to all this!0 -
As long as you don't stream (watch videos), 200mb should be more than enough.
At any time you can find out how much of your allowance remains by texting bb smart to 39555. If it looks as if 200mb isn't enough you can buy extra bundles of data for £5.0 -
