The magic ones that the Daily Mail tells everyone you can get if you are an immigrant. Its a new take on 'they come over here, pinching our jobs', now its 'they come over here and claim all our benefits'
Not too far out. I can safely say, first hand, that it can and does happen and far more regularly than the government would have people believe.
Family catch a flight at point A, flush passports down the toilet inflight, and arrive at Heathrow where immigration (not knowing from whence they came) have no choice but to detain. There are very strict rules concerning the detention of children, and every accommodation must be made with recourse to education, medical care etc.
Fast forward a few months/years, if and when the powers that be finally ascertain where family hail from it is often the start of an asylum application. Fast forward another couple of years (at least), and the children now have no affinity with their country of birth and have an established life in the UK with friends, school place etc. Cannot remove parents, cannot forcibly remove children, if a child becomes distressed they must be removed from any attempt to board them onto an aircraft, so in a lot of cases, job is done and family stay.
Hell, even Afghan plane hijackers are getting to live a life without having to work courtesy of the British taxpayer.0 -
I can't even tell you how many idiots actually believe the nonsense that's printed in that garbage.
The amount of times I've had to tell people they have too much money to receive HB/CTB to be met with "but if i came over from another country you'd give me a car, a 5 bedroomed house, flat screen tv blah blah blah".
The only valid anti immigration thing I've read in this thread which has any truth in it at all is the big issue sellers. Its true that people from certain countries can sell the big issue and its classed as self employment after the case went to court, the original article is here.I work as a Housing Benefit assessor, any advice given is for general information purposes only. It is not, and should not be construed as, financial or other professional advice.0 -
Where do they get these jobs from??If there is jobs out there we shouldn't be letting people into this country to take those jobs,we should be making our people on the dole take them.
They do the jobs the "born British" won't do.
You do realise that we have freedom of travel and work within the EU don't you? That includes all the Brits who move to the Continent as well as those who move in the other direction.0 -
The foreigners being paid £2billion in benefits a year including
371,000 on the dole (and 5,000 claiming £42m in illegal handouts)
DWP fraud probe after 5,000 illegal immigrants claim £42m in handouts to which they are not entitled
371,000 foreign nationals on out-of-work benefits
6% of all benefit claimants are foreigners, study finds
Ah.. Those foreigners.
At least half of those "foreigners" are British citizens. The figure includes all who weren't UK nationals when they first applied for a NINo.
So, 3% of all benefit claimants are foreigners.
And "dole" is wrong. The Mail included various in-work benefits.0
