  • Tends to be my view as well, mistakes happen but as soon as they knew it should have been rectified there and then

What is strange looking at the email again is that would be the way someone would find out they had won. Would have thought the email would have been more personal than that

  • Agree that we are all human and that people make mistakes. It is a shame as it is horrible when you get excited and then feel let down. As we all know right now haha. On the compensation side.. well, a mistake is a mistake. Don't think they need to but wouldn't say no to sampling a pot of VO5 ;)
BUT all that said.. I think it is damn rude that they know they have made this mistake and have not mailed out to let people know yet! Think of the people who have got that mail and who do not know about this thread. GULP. Unfair I'd say! A mistake like that needs sorting quick sharp to save people embarrassing themselves and getting their hopes up.... they could sort out what they are going to do about it later. Just let them know they/we have NOT won. :/

This. Completely. I'm genuinely upset and I don't want compensation but I do want a big, fat apology. Luckily I googled first and came up with this thread (and a similar one on another site) but I feel for all the people who ended up calling friends and family to share their excitement and possibly are still calling because they think it's genuine.

As much as I feel for you all who got excited because you never seen this thread, I feel for the woman who made the mistake. For all you know it might have been someone who just started or someone having an off day that made this mistake. Imagine it was your own son or daughter or husband/wife who's just having an offday and your about to string them up for it. If i was that person i'd be scared for my job right now and that's not right. You started off the day without the holiday and you've lost nothing, please let it go and admit that people do make mistakes. For all the people who say they're out of work and this would have been a pickme up etc this is no excuse to complain to get a pot of gel or something which could lead to someone else being in your situation.

I'm with JoeCool91 as I make mistakes. I feel for the person who pressed the wrong button. He/she must be in agony and has much more to lose.:(

Considering the comp ended over a month ago you would have thought they would have had time to let down the losers/contact the winner in a professional manner.

ultimately they have not and it all seems a little lazy so no its not an easy mistake! in fact it seems harder to have made this mess so if the person gets into trouble so be it they probably deserve it as does the person who trained that person.

If you are not competent enough to do a job then you shouldn't be doing it.

    I have no sympathy.

What a nice attitude you have there. We all have off days. This woman/man is gonna have their job on the line because of a mistake so you can all get a tub of gel. I hope it's worth it.
 :j Thanks to all the OP's for all your hard work! :j:beer:
  • I was excited and happy half an hour ago, nearly went on to Amazon to get a guide book too, but left it!

Sounds as though everyone's had this message, if it had just been a few they may have honoured it, but I'm guessing they'd have had hundreds of thousands of entrants, so no chance!
