Wearing shorts to primary school in this weather?

I wore shorts every day of my life until I was about twelve, rain or shine, summer or winter. I don't think I owned a pair of long trousers and neither did my peers. We survived!

Def a kid thing. One of my girls went to school in just a white shirt for top most of winter one year. She must of froze. Wile the other girl went in sensible warm clothes and coat.

We had such battles and often found coat tucked behind the bin outside.

I took my son to his football training wearing just his shorts and t-shirt on Tuesday, to be fair though it's really mild just now. I haven't worn a coat yet, and I'm on the east coast of Scotland.

I had to laugh yesterday as my friend had bought her twin girls new thick coats as they were cold at lunch time playing on the yard ... they both still had ankle socks on though!

Same here. Only went into long trousers when I started secondary school.

I my daughters school the boys have to wear shorts right through the school all year round. It's the uniform.

My friend's child used to wear shorts to school all year round including that bad winter we had a few years ago when it got to minus 20! She tried hiding them then but he either found them or wore his trousers rolled up!

He has now outgrown that habit as it was getting to the stage where she was sick of people making comments!

There is a school not far from me where the boys wear shorts all year round.

My father in law always said he got his first pair of trousers when he started work at 14 - that was common then and photos of the local river frozen over have convinced me they had far colder winters than we do now!

I can't see any problem in wearing shorts to school in this weather, why would there be a problem with it? I used to wear shorts when I went to primary school, plus it's not going to stop infections or bugs which go round schools.
