No 'cooling off' period for TMobile/Orange
Options
Hi there, Am considering joining one of these 2 networks so I get the advantages of using both (3G only, not the EE 4G plan). I notice they have no 'cooling off' period after you join up with them.
Isn't there a legal right to be able to cancel a contract within a given period if it isn't right for you? I'm concerned that if I join this network, the signal strength might actually be worse than O2, my current provider.
The online coverage maps don't help either as they don't allow for blackspots etc. O2 believe they have an 'excellent' coverage in my area.
Thanks

There's no cooling off if you buy instore, however there is if you buy online or over the phone, in accordance with distance selling rules. I think it is seven days.0

The safest way is to get hold of a free payg sim and try it before you commit to a new network.
Coverage maps are ok but sometimes the reality is not always what is predicted on them
Trying a sim will give you chance to see what it's like in the areas you most visit etcIt's not just about the money0 -
If bought instore, the only cooling-off period is what the network or retailer voluntarily offers-which may be nothing. It's the same as any retail purchase in-store-there is no automatic right whatsoever to return an item just because you have changed your mind.
It's up to you to check the reception at the required location before committing. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
check the signal first so many people come on here syaing the same thing moaning how they cant cancel after theyve got a contractWhat goes around-comes around0

No right to return if bought instore. 7 days DSR applies if over the phone, or online. Some retailers do not permit the device to be opened or powered on, so as Silk says, get hold of a sim on whichever of the EE networks you think youll use most of the time - and then test drive.0

As far as I'm aware no cooling off period if bought in store. You have up to 14 days cooling off period with regards to any contract bought over the phone or online as far as I'm aware.0

Anything over that is applicable to the suppliers T&C's if they wish to offer itIt's not just about the money0 -

A spot of Googling will throw up similar problems discussed elsewhere. Seems all is not entirely well with T-mobile/Orange/EE just at the moment...0 -
