Our family and friends are used to us by now. In fact, when they have to give us money for something, they will deliberately give us £2 coins. If I see someone in the office with a £2 coin, I generally buy it!

OH decided to start collecting £2 coins when they were issued and we have never spent one in all that time. Over the years they have been cashed in and the money put towards New York holiday spending money.

We will be off to NYC next month, and I think we have about £700 in the pot to spend on whatever we fancy.

I tried to buy my son's stash of £2 coins, but he refused, saying they were for the honeymoon fund - well at least he has good teachers.

That's amazing! Not jealous at all ;) I need to find something like that to put my £2 collection towards.

It's good your son has learnt from you to save up. I started doing it as someone I used to work with did it and it seemed like a great idea as they're funny coins anyway. My dad is trained to save up any £2 coins he gets for me and I buy them off him so that helps as I'm off work at the moment so tend not to spend any cash.

Excluding the ones my dad has for me I'm now at £1,200.

Out of interest, for those of you who have banked them where do you bank them? I've been looking for savings accounts but nowhere has a decent interest rate and I also want to make it as hard as I can for myself to get to the money once it's paid in.

Since joining this thread I haven't seen one £2. I'm thinking of looking ing DS money box to see if he has one and swapping it for £1 coins so I can get started. Is this cheating?
