Everything I have stated is factually correct. Lots of people have qualifications in their specialism that are higher than the ones held by their managers.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Not much of a man at the top if he's so out of touch that essential work isn't done due to sackings of all the people capable of completing certain tasks.......... Of course if both these key roles are filled by school children so therefore unavailable during school hours it raises certain doubts about how essential this work is ....How ever do they manage?
Sorry just more of Daska's over dramatics . It takes away any sympathy when she goes on like this but in essence it really doesn't matter if her DSD is performing brain surgery or shelf filling -it's a lousy situation for a kid to be in if she really did have no responsibility for the breach of rules in the office. It does beg the question why a manager jumped so quickly when an option to dismiss her was presented -to the point one has to wonder if her face really didn't fit and that is why they were so eager to let her go. Daska is hearing one side of the story -I found when working with teenagers that often how they presented a situation and the reality were fairly far apart. For example if DSD was doing an adequate job but wasn't polite to less able but more established staff-after all according to Daska she'll be sodding off to (a Russell group -no less !) uni in less than a year anyway-so if her presence was disruptive -it may have felt to management that as she'd be leaving soon anyway better to let her go before less able but reliable and long term staff left as her presence was ...disruptive. So did anyone here read what I wrote about it NOT being an electronic image?
Or the bit I wrote on here about her tantrumming ability? Does that really make it sound like I think she's perfect? Really?
Is she a prodigy? i wouldn't class her as one. I said Russell Group not Oxbridge. But, factually, she has a qualification that a lot of her colleagues don't which allows her more, better-paid work which they aren't legally permitted to do. Most of her colleagues weren't interested when they found out what the training and full job description entailed and of those who did try not many passed, not even her manager.
Can't you just say well done her for getting off her bum and doing things to better herself and others. I'm sure you'd be the first to criticise us if she couldn't be bothered and planned to spend the rest of her life on benefits and I was on here asking how she could avoid working.
Ok so it wasn't a graphic but presumably was what? Printed out? And she didn't see/notice until it was brought to her attention. But this must have been in her workspace. What was it? Pic of body part? Rude joke?
She's been got shot of because life isn't fair and despite her training etc her bosses either aren't willing to be understanding (less than 2 year rule) and/or see her as replaceable. What with her uni career.
Kudos to her getting training and not being on benefits ( bit unnecessary to overegg the pudding but hey ho.
She has to move on. What galls with most people is your touting her as person of year etc. we heard and you can't/won't stop going on about it. Stop the dramarama please! :eek:0 -

Is she a vicar? You can get ordained on the internet.
That would make her more qualified then everyoneThere are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can't.0 -
We are in possession of the facts. It has emerged that other members of staff are embroiled in other aspects of this and at least one has been to the police about it and it seems likely that there will be legal action being taken.
It a matter of FACT that without DSD and the other lad they will be unable to fulfil a legal contract until they can recruit and train more staff, which obviously isn't impossible but could take months and will be very expensive. It's concievable that the combination of legal costs and replacing staff may be more than they can afford.
And no Duchy, we haven't done any more than write a polite letter to the man in charge saying that we were shocked that the decision to dismiss was made prior to any investigation, considering DSD was the victim of the prank and there were no prior incidents on her record, and please could the situation be investigated fully before a final decision is made. We haven't shouted, made threats, implied that we will take it any further.
In fact we're actually trying to get some of them to consider the consequences if the whole operation folds.
Unfortunately the one holding most cards is also a key member of the team, again not irreplaceable but who's absence, given that no-one else there is qualified in his specialism will prevent them from offering a key service that generates most of their income.a
I genuinely wish I could share all the details, I think there would be a lot more understanding from you all if I were able to. But given the way things are moving I think I better not.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Daska, I have read every post in this thread and I must tell you that I admire the way you have handled the nasty remarks, the sarcasm and the narrow mindedness of some posters as well as the way some only read the bits they wanted! I couldn't have done it lol!
I hope this gets resolved satisfactorily for your stepdaughter.LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012
