    Virgin just replied:

Broadband 30Mb speed and unlimited download and "Phone XL" costs £29.15 for first 6 months and £36.40 a month thereafter. You will get free installation worth £49.95.

    So
    29.15 x 6 = 174.90
    36.40 x 6 = 218.40

    Total = 393.30 = £32.75 per month ...with landline!!

I have PM'd but are BE reselling wholesale BT landline and BB or have they got to have their own LLU gear in the exchange?

Their number checker is out of action this afternoon which does not fill me with confidence!! 8)

    Thanks

The landline rental is resold BT. The BB part is SMPF, which basically means their own LLU equipment in the exchange but bridged from the BT phone connections. (So "half" LLU, but still ADSL2+). People like Sky and TT have FMPF or "full" LLU so that they provide both the phone and BB connection management.

Regarding the number checker, you can also try the one at the BE Usergroup website. (There is a very informed and active community around BE, wherein the usergroup are effectively the forum moderators, but BE staff also provide support via the BE forum).

    http://beusergroup.co.uk/index.php

Let me know if you want me to refer you to BE and I'll do the deed. (I have received your PM, but I'll wait until you've decided which route you are taking). :)

Edit: I've just checked - BE are not available on your exchange. Your only LLU option is TalkTalk. Otherwise it is Virgin cable or a BT reseller (like Plusnet). :(

    BE uses the O2 network.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Technically O2 (LLU) use the BE network. ;)

Not that this matters - neither are available on SMEY.

Meant to post this here and not in the other thread with all the combined info...!

So actually, looking at all my own figures, if I stay with Orange with unlimited download £20.42 (and now they are upgrading my line speed) and pay BT line rental in advance, £10.75 + anytime calls £4.90 = £36-07 pm it is about the same as BTs 40gb limit package with line rental and Anytime calls...!!??

The only real difference would be the free BT wi-fi spots for my Iphone......any further thoughts...?

    TIA

Well having just got my Orange MAC code, I got a call from the Orange retention team as I have qualified for a loyalty offer :rotfl:!!

Stay with them on BB and move land line from BT and get unlimited BB download, Anytime calls and line rental on a 12 month contract....for £20 inclusive of VAT instead of the £38 advertised price!!!

I have 7 days cooling off, so have said 'yes'.

This is what money saving expert is all about!
