I bet that this is actually Orange 'Free' Broadband - remember that you get what you pay for!

    :rotfl:

Nope....20+ quid a month Orange BB

    Your current home package is:
Broadband Max (off-net) - £20.42 a month, up to 8 Meg speed, Livebox wireless router, unlimited usage allowance (fair use policy applies). Plus inclusive calls at anytime using your Livebox to UK landlines.

Answering myself, I think my IP Profile has been limited due to the recent noise fault on the BT line which was finally fixed today!

Hopefully after a few days of higher rate, the profile will automatically adjust ...or does this have to be requested???

    TIA

It can take up to 10 days for the line to 'train'.
But at £20pm I think it's time you looked elsewhere...

Thanks, I was about to when I realised I had the noise issue.

Does the line automatically retrain after a noise fix ( a new pair on the same number) or does that have to be requested, please?

I now have a choice of BT Broadband, TalkTalk (only LLU on Exchange and pretty awful if comments here are to be believed!) or Virgin.

If anyone has done the figures with all the current offers, I want Broadband of at least 20gb (although I have had unlimited and am unsure of exact usage...and Orange won't tell you!!!) and Anytime calls, not just Weekend and Evening. Oh yes, and I want to keep the same number.

Not bothered about TV as I still love my CRT telly and Freeview box with HD!!

If only other ISPs would get in the exchange I have Orange, Vodaphone and O2 phones in the household!!!!!

    TIA

No, it's automatic. leave your router powered on 24/7, if you don't already.
TT wil be the cheapest LLU option for you, (if you can live with the poor service is another matter) but you also have the option of dozens of other non-LLU ISP's, such as Plusnet.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Anyone care to comment on my maths, please, with these current BT offers!?

At the bt.com/hopon site I am comparing the prices of the first 2 offers WITH unlimited calls with the first option

Offer 1: BB + adding unlimited calls on a 10 gb package over 18 months without line rental =

    6 months at free bb + 4.90 unlimited calls = 29.40
    6 months at 13 bb pm + 4.90 ul calls= 78 + 29.40
    6 months at 13 bb pm + 4.90 ul calls= 78 + 29.40

    Total = 244.20 or 13.57 per month

Offer 2 BB and unlimited calls included over 12 months

    6 months at 13 = 78
    6 months at 18.15 = 108.90

    Total 12 months = 186.90 or 15.57 pm

OOOps just seen the 'move from Orange' offer for 10 gb BB! https://www.vouchers.bt.com/promo/orange

    18 x 4.90 unlimited calls = 88.20
    18 x 5 BB = 90

    Total =178.20 or 9.90 pm !!?

    TIA

Is 10GB allowance per month enough for you?

I'm currently paying £29-ish (plus chargeable calls, like to mobiles) per month to BE for landline + Anytime calls + Unlimited BB and I sync at 16.5meg down, 1.3meg up. (Assuming £14 per month landline rental then that is £15 per month for Anytime plus BB).

With your router stats you should easily achieve 24meg down, 1.4meg up on ADSL2+.

Hmmm, I know. I'm mostly a browser and buyer not a film or album downloader.

Remember I'm stuck with BT or Virgin (and TalkTalk!!)

BT 40 GB with Anytime calls cost

    18 x £4.90= £88.20 (Anytime charge)
    3 mon BB offer @ £9 = 27
    15 mon BB @ £18=270

Total = 385.20 or 21.40 per month without landline

Haven't worked out the Virgin equivalent yet!

    Unlimited £22
    Landline + Anytime £14
    Total £36

This is what I currently get for just over £29 per month, but I've been with BE for several years. ;)

And if you ring them up you'll probably get an offer (e.g. x months half price). And if you ARE interested, PM me your email address and I'll refer you - that way we both 1 month free BB. :)

I have PM'd but are BE reselling wholesale BT landline and BB or have they got to have their own LLU gear in the exchange?

Their number checker is out of action this afternoon which does not fill me with confidence!! 8)

    Thanks
