I am not currently a job hunter but my partner is so I'm test driving the sign up for him. He has dyslexia, so this is particularly increasing his frustration at not finding a job even though I do help him with his job searching.
You have to tick the Ethnicity test but once you get to that part you can select 'prefer not to say'. So no biggie there.
You can also decline permission for the "I authorise DWP to view my accounts, including job search activity, feedback and notes". But you can change this at a later date if you so wish. So they cant see it if you don't want them to. They only want proof of you signing up.
I can only guess the amount of traffic this will create will allow the Government to say "it's working". Also, jobs seem to be added daily so advisers who can have access to clients activity will expect regular logging in.
I personally use other websites for job hunting as 'local' jobs on this website are very far and few between. But hey, who knows, feedback from users could create a better site in time.
**ADDITIONAL***
Just gone through the steps to apply for a customer service assistant position in Cardiff and the link took me to a loft cavity advisor position in Merseyside. Glitches a plenty by the looks of it!!!
Also when uploading your CV - you can choose it to be public or private. You can control who sees what. This website is almost (if not) the same as monster.co.uk Whether or not its breaking the law for Data Protection, you can decide whose eyes sees your information.0 -
simple answer to all of this..
Ask your adviser or a jobcentre representative as to any concerns you may have.
not helpful I suppose but.. best action to take....0 -

Concern over New Sanctions Regime
19 October 2012
A new sanctions regime is due to be introduced in the DWP, which introduces tougher penalties for claimants for non-compliance, and tougher consequences for failing to comply with requirements.
The changes introduced are part of the welfare reform bill, which sees a raft of changes to the welfare system, including a benefit cap, housing benefit reductions, and the abolition of DLA.
New Sanctions
The new regime for JSA claimants, which comes into force on 22nd October 2012, means that there will be three levels of sanctions:- Higher Level – with sanctions of up to 13, 26, or 156 weeks
- Intermediate Level – a period of disallowance follow3d by up to 4 or 13 weeks depending on the period of disallowance
- Lower Level – sanctions of up to 4 weeks for the first failure followed by sanctions of 13 weeks for second or subsequent failures.
High Unemployment
PCS is opposed to the stricter benefits regime, which is part of an ideological attack on the welfare state. The unemployment figures show very clearly that unemployment is still very high, and that there are many more claimants than there are job vacancies. Despite a slight reduction, youth unemployment is at almost 1 million, 40% higher than it was in January 2008. The state of the labour market is a reflection of the current economic crisis. PCS believes that ministers are demanding increased benefit sanctions to divert attention from their failing economic policies.
The witholding of Benefit for longer periods is part of the expenditure reduction strategy.
The tool to implement this policy is Universal Jobmatch0 -

Had another phone convo with a senior adviser at JCP today.
If you are claiming JSA you have to sign up and allow them access to your account so they can monitor your searches, this replaces the written diaries currently used.
You can deny access but if you do, you wont get any benefits. What they are saying is if you want to claim benefits, this is what you have to do and if you dont want to, thats fine, but you wont get any money.0 -

Exactly, next time you sign on you will get a new JSA if you demand one, or you can refuse, in which case they will tell you that in order to keep getting benefits you need to agree to the new UJM or you wont get any money.
Merry Xmas, Happy New Year (with no money coming in)0 -

MissSarah1972 wrote: »You are an idiot - You do not have to demand one its part of what they should give you if they are making something mandatory! Did you get a new one or you just are doing what they tell you with nothing in writing? Well done you!
You are clearly the idiot.
Its all quite simple, you want benefits, you do what they ask of you or you dont get paid. You can accept the new arrangements as is or you can be awkward and say its not in your current JSA, they will then say 'OK, here is a new JSA, if you agree to it fine, if you dont you get nothing'.
As usual you are trolling the forum looking for arguments like you always do, 'Im not doing this, Im not doing that, they cant make me' and you are right, they cant make you agree to anything, its your choice, BUT, if you dont agree YOU WONT GET ANY BENEFITS!!0
