It's not mandatory to register however it may become! The ujm system has replaced the job search function that we had on lms, however ujm is now the system we will use to match customers to vacancies in essence making it mandatory to register and use the system as just like on lms not all vacancies will have visible contact details.

An advisor will be able to see if you've registered or not, but it's not mandatory to allow them access.

New jsags have been delivered with details of ujm pre-printed so it can become one of your weekly requirements to use it.

Maybe the member who is a JC adviser can shed some light on this, why is it a requirement to register? What does it prove, or what info does it give them other than you have registered? If you deny them access they cant see whether you use the site at all, so whats the point?
It's a political issue with all other welfare reforms

They don't want to create a site that few people use/register with, reject, easily avoid.

They want to be able to say look at all these million+ people using (registered) on this wonderful new site that brings these services online, as well as help people into jobs & reduce unemployment.

Gaz1971 was told it was mandatory to register. Wonder why some people are being told that then.

Also a new job seekers agreement would be good to have.

It's just equivalent to checking JC jobs via any route, jobs on jobpoints at jobcentre or phoning Jobseeker Direct, as well as UJM.

How jobseeker checks JC jobs is up to them.

I guess his region may be as in the long run it probably will become mandatory. Not the best answer I know but I can't really comment on individual job centres

But if you deny access, what can they see, nothing, so whats the point?

Is it a case of if you are registered then there is the possibility you are using it,but it cant be proved, but if you dont register then they know for a fact you arent using it?

Technically it's whatever they have agreed to on their jsag so if they agree to use ujm it will be mandatory to do so.

The job points are being phased out and replaced with Internet access.

Use or register are different things as you can still see and apply for jobs with out logging in

some people in fact all on here who have signed since registering have not been asked to sign a new agreement

I will see what mine say this week.

CSMW, can you tell me how much info is available to JCP staff if I deny them access to my account? Is there anything they can see no matter what?
