Isn't this in breach of some sort of competition law? It's a forced monopoly leveraging a captive audience in order to kill off other job sites.0

?????????? erm, nope, you are still quite free to use any job site you want (and I do use several, as well as UJM)0 -
Yes but they are making it so that:
a) You need to register and use Universal Jobmatch (under threats of sanction)
If that isn't abuse of a dominant position I don't know what is. Microsoft for example were in trouble a while back with the EU for similar sharp practice.0 -

This is what makes having to register such a joke. If you sign up and deny them access to the account, they have no idea if you are using the site at all, so registering proves nothing, other than the fact you have registered!
As usual it a govt department balls up thats beyond a joke.0 -

You'd laugh if it wasn't so stupid.
Clueless government probably thought by forcing people onto this wonderful job match website which matches people to jobs they will magically solvent unemployment problem.0 -
Maybe the member who is a JC adviser can shed some light on this, why is it a requirement to register? What does it prove, or what info does it give them other than you have registered? If you deny them access they cant see whether you use the site at all, so whats the point?0

May be as simple as allowing IDS in a few months time, to stand up in the commons, puff his chest out and boast that X number of people have signed up, therefore is a success.0 -
It's not mandatory to register however it may become! The ujm system has replaced the job search function that we had on lms, however ujm is now the system we will use to match customers to vacancies in essence making it mandatory to register and use the system as just like on lms not all vacancies will have visible contact details.
An advisor will be able to see if you've registered or not, but it's not mandatory to allow them access.
New jsags have been delivered with details of ujm pre-printed so it can become one of your weekly requirements to use it.0
