see `the Universal Jobmatch FQ`.
it says:
Q8. Does everyone have to register to search for jobs?
No, but if not, jobseeker’s will not be able to access all the facilities listed in
question 7.
question 7.
Q7. What are the advantages to jobseekers if they register for Universal
Jobmatch?
The advantages are:
• create or upload a CV,
• tailor their job search preferences to suit the jobs they are looking for,
• conduct and save their own job searches
• receive ongoing job matches
• receive alerts via email
• see how they match against the jobs placed
• refine their job search and identify any skills gaps against their
preferred job roles
• view company details of jobs matched to their account
• apply for jobs online
• access to the help and support function
• keep a record of all their job search activity in one place
Google it at "Universal Jobmatch - Frequently asked questions" pdf.0 -
While now not unemployed I still check it to see what vacancies there are locally and i'm very unimpressed with the new site. Theres now no option to list jobs by distance and its giving jobs in towns that more than 5 miles away when I limit the search to that.0

They will tell you to use your local library to access the internet.
i am already registered with a website that matches me to jobs. so it is a good idea and it would be a convenient way of recording your evidence. my issue is with the possibility of them policing what you do and useing something on it as an excuse to sanction you.0 -
The new site still says
You can also search for jobs by calling Jobcentre Plus.
Telephone: 0845 606 0234
Textphone: 0845 605 5255
Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm
and also
You may have difficulties using this service while it’s being improved - if you’re affected, please try again later.
Improved? It only went live yesterday!0 -

But yeah I will ask about the ja agreement.
Everything should be in writing and you sign to agree it even like when they hand you a letter about xmas signings or whatever they get you to sign for it. Why is this so different?
There are leaflets in your JC, you will no doubt say you havent seen them and know nothing of UJM, but the fact you are here moaning about it suggests you know all about it.
Also, you claim you search the site all the time, well it tells you all about the changes on the first page you see.
Pleading ignorance wont work.0 -

I only knew about the new site as I saw it when I posted this thread as I went on the site and saw the header saying the site was changing on the 19th.
It does not say to get benefits you have to sign up at all though.
I do not visit the JC every day you see so would have no idea and if no one tells you how are you meant to know?
When did you get told or read a leaflet about this then as the message only went on the site on the 13th November!0 -
The last time I was in my job centre was the 9th Nov and not seeing my advisor as this was an appt to be transfered to the work programme and I just signed with them after the meeting.
I go to the wp this week for my first appt and then sign again on Friday this week so no one has made any mention of the new job site till I saw it myself like I have just said.0 -

It tells you about it on the website when you go to do a job search, you claim to live on there, searching for jobs.
Soooooo, a clever JC adviser will say 'If you were on there searching, you cant have missed the notification about the site changes, so why havent you asked us about it?'
If you want benefits, its down to you to make the effort to make sure you do whats required.0 -

Maybe I should have called them
Then, obviously, they will tell you all about it the next time you sign on.0
