I think there's a definite case of people over reacting here. Not only can they NOT monitor every move you make online away from the JCP site, who on earth thinks they have the time or manpower to be able to do so?
It's an absurd notion and I think people need to calm down.0 -

Now or later you could close the account or sign up with an alias maybe using different/temporary/disposable email address.
The main thing is to avoid giving DWP the account user id & email address.
The only thing stopping people being monitored is a tick box on the Universal Jobsite website. This could be software/website linked stopping unauthorised DWP access or administrative guideline in that they should not do it.
I wouldn't rely on a tick box.0 -

Why then do they say you do not need to write the jobs down you apply for? How are they going to know you have applied? Because they are going to have access to your acct and can flag up jobs for you to apply for too.0 -

It would be nice to know what exactly Universal Job Match monitors. Is it just simply the website when your logged in and looking for work, which I've got no problem with but if its monitoring my complete Internet usage than I do have a problem.
Next it'll be installing tiny software applications on our PCs and chipping us for when we go out. :-)
Ok they can't monitor your other internet usage, I would lose count of how many laws that breaks.
What they can do (as in technologically feasibile) is to monitor;
How long you are active on UJM, so you couldn't just log on and leave it in the background.
What jobs you are applying for via UJM, jobs that are suitable, jobs that you have been recommended, jobs that are within your travel distance, etc.
IMO they are using these monitoring techniques to worm out people who aren't puttig in effort, the same people who will get flagged up currently and ask to prove they applied for the jobs they claim will just have their account checked.0 -

Yes they are asking for your UJM account, not your internet account.
Although it would be illegal to view someone's account without permission and it would also be illegal to demand you register with threat of sanctions. There is no law backing what they appear to want to do.0 -
I've just signed my other half up on this, he had been using the one before for the past few weeks since he has been out of work (first time in 13 years!) The new job search seems to have been rushed, been looking at jobs and there are some which he wants to apply for but they have no contact details or who to apply to, phone numbers just say '11111 111111' and some don't even state rate of pay. As always there will be teething problems, just hope they sort them soon.0

So they can monitor what you've done on their site, nothing more. If they have your log in details they'll just be logging on like you would and see your history that way. That doesn't then mean they can go on and look at all your other web movements. They would need your computer in order to do that.0 -
Just out of interest for anyone on here who has signed up with a CV and profile on there, can you answer this.
If you have applied for a job via the site how have you done so? Is there an applicaiton to attach a cv and cover letter and it magically goes down the line to them like on Reed or Jobsite etc or do you still have to find the contact details and send a regular email?0 -
How on earth would they manage to look at every single place you've been online? You sign up, they ask for your log in details for the site and they monitor what you've looked at. I don't agree with that and think it's nothing short of b******s.
But the suggestion that they could look at every single website you've looked at is nothing short of absurd surely. To do that wouldn't they have to have access to your actual computer?I think there's a definite case of people over reacting here. (They can only view that apparently if you give them permission, but that is on a tick box.)
But that is enough to target people.
This is a long game & only the start.
The website is just bedding down & advisors learning system.
Three JC advisors on MSE have already said they couldn't see anything wrong with monitoring people & that if you didn't give access to your account it could be seen negatively, that's how stupid they are.0 -

Why do you keep deleting an answer only to post it again after someone else has posted?0
