I started a YBS application about a month before you did, and haven't had a paper offer yet. I got an emailed confirmation that the offer is forthcoming, though, yesterday. They have about a week's backlog in opening post and my case handler reports them being very busy...

Make sure that batch of documents you're sending is neat and complete, you don't want to have to send more!

I asked my solicitor today if completion in 2-3 weeks was realistic and their reply was slightly evasive but did make clear mention that we would plan "...to complete in January".

I hope that "helps" you, somehow! :/

I've got two weeks holiday over Christmas and then nothing until Easter, so it would be jolly good to move sharpish but I'm not expecting to. In fact I'm renting currently and am not even giving notice yet, it seems so unlikely.

Four weeks on Monday will be Christmas Eve...
  • We have had all our bits done now just waiting for searches which should be complete today, I was hoping we would be in before Christmas but now doubtful and aiming for January- at least we might pick up some bargains in the January sales :):):)

I hear stories of people making and offer, exchanging and completing all within thirty seconds or something. Well, not quite, but you know. I'm sure that in theory we should be able to get things done before Christmas, but I don't suppose any of the other parties are ever in a particular hurry.

Tip of the week: Don't 'helpfully highlight' the info they need if faxing payslips/bank statements over. Looks like you've redacted it apparently :rotfl: well done OH!

Spoken to YBS, they said affordability is fine, valuation has been instructed so we should have an offer by the end of this week. Fingers crossed!

Good luck to everyone else aswell :)
Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard

FYI, my offer came in the post on the Friday following the valuation on the Monday. By the Wednesday I had heard by e-mail.

The rest of my application was approved by that point, like yours.

My ybs application was approved on the Friday after applying on a Monday and had to resend some documents. I found them super quick and effiecient!

Hmm thanks for sharing your experiences but that's not like mine so far!

I phoned them yesterday, the valuation is in and is all ok, but our case manager's so busy she hasn't looked at an email we sent a week ago. Just waiting for the offer now...

Had email today saying we've got an offer and it's on its way...

Going to choose carpets with Bovis at the weekend (and walk round to the house to see if it's got a kitchen yet lol)

Looks like this might be done in time still? Will be chasing our solicitors every day once we get the mortgage offer in writing I think :D Had the draft contract through so need to ask them some questions on that anyway.

My application (second one - long story) passed the underwriting stage today. They say the offer will be in the post be end of day tomorrow.

I'm also hoping to complete before Christmas but, given the hassle I've had so far, I don't see the searches happening quick enough.

Anyone got any idea why Bovis would offer the full market value for OH's house and then immediately put it on the market at 10% less than that? :s
