  • Hi Mandatory,

Sorry to her the sad news about your Nan, the good people are always taken too soon.

How did you get on with the flat search and mortgage interview? I hope there is some good news for you on that front, at least there are still some reasonably affordable houses in your area so I'm sure you will work this out.

Exciting news about your Japanese trip, Japan looks amazing, bet you can't wait!

    Hi everyone,

    Update time!

The flat - the valuation came back way below the purchase price of the flat I went to view and made an offer on, and I didn't hear back from the appeal so I walked away. As lovely as the flat was I felt unsure after being pressured by the estate agent to chase up the valuation, plus something else happened...

I start a new job in two weeks!

The salary is much better than what I'm on (my boss didn't give me the rise I wanted, which I believed was the market rate, even below that) but based in Coventry. My aunt lives on a new development and the same builders have a development of flats less than two minutes walking distance away from her house, so the week after I accepted the job offer I went to look at one, returned the next day to reserve a ground floor two bedroom flat which will be ready at the end of November. :D

I've gone through Help to Buy although the amount of 'help' I'll be getting is 15% rather than 20% since my deposit is quite healthy. My mortgage payments will be £380 a month for the first two years and this gives me more than enough room to save a nice amount each month.

Everything really is changing! I'm excited about moving to Coventry and starting a great new job in a fantastic company, somewhere where they'll appreciate me more than I am right now.

Also... I came back from Japan two days ago! It was amazing, such a clean and friendly country and I'm already thinking about my next visit. ;) Expensive, but worth every penny!
