Freezing mushrooms

i normally just wipe mine, slice them and gently soften in some butter. Let them cool and pack into a freezer container. Then when required just thaw and heat through. Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

I wouldn't wash them Jenny, just give them a wipe and pop them in a bag, works for me ok.

i have in past frozen them as whole. but when i defrost them they just go brown and mushy. i will be adding some to the dinner tonight, and love them on toast. or just light fried as a side to a meal. but whats the most benefical way to freeze them please. i do have other ingrediants in the house so i can mix them with something if need be.

I slice them and then freeze them like that in "cooking" portions. Then when I need them, eg for a spag bol, I just take out one portion and chuck it in! Voila!!Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

Hi jcr16,
We have an older thread on freezing mushrooms, so I have merged your thread into it as it makes it easier for readers of the Old Style board to find all the replies on one thread. As always, posts are listed in date order, so you'll need to read from the beginning to see all the replies.

Crazy isn't it!!
I don't defrost then before I add them to the meal, they are ever so thin anyway and they always cook through by the time the whole meal is.Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j
