I tend to chop all my raw mushrooms in one go and freeze them in portion size freezer bags, so when I need chopped mushrooms, ie for spag bol I just take them out of the freezer and add to the pan.Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0

I have been given a large bag of mushrooms, and I'm planning to make soup, but can I freeze the rest of the raw mushrooms so I can use the in something else? Or will they go soggy and horrible?£2.00 Coin Savers Club - £72.00 :j :j

I haven't frozen any myself but just found following in "Complete Freezer Book"
Preparation -
Wipe but do not peel. Cut large mushrooms in slices. Stalks may be frozen separately. Blanch one and half mins in 6 pints of water with 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Pack cups down in boxes, leaving one and half inch headspace.
To serve-
thaw in container in fridge and cook in butter.

can I freeze mushrooms. Bought some which were reduced yesterday and I'm not ready to use them. Should I wash them then freeze or cook them and freeze? Thanks.0
