thanks - its fun thinking of what i can do in it. I read on an american site that baked potatoes work quite well if wrapped in tin foil and put in on high. has anyone tried that?Happy cooking Vanoonoo

no but it sounds like a good idea, may give that a go.0

How long do you have to leave the potatoes in for? Will definately try to do them in the slow cooker - don't like them done in the microwave and I'm not home in time to put them in the oven.0

I'd try high for 4-5hrs for Jacket Potatoes (we call them Murphey's around here - don't know why) Havn't tried them myself by my neighbour says they are much better than micro'd ones. I'll give it a go next weekLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

might be worth putting a dollop of butter on the potato before wrapping to moisten skin a bit
and don't forget some liquid or pot will crack0 -
I have dried my pots and rubbed them with sea salt before wrapping in foil and put into a dry slo-cooker and they tasted great.
They have just had a slo-cooker on Ideal World TV. It was all chrome, and shiny, and new, with a glass lid and everything. Unlike my scratched, splattered, battered old thing. At one point I may have even started dribbling
It took considerable MSE will power not to pick up the phone and squander £28 :' At this point I may even have let out a small whimper :'( ( It was very nice though ;D
The chef doing the demo recomends rubbing meat and poultry with honey mized with a bit of gravy browning to give a nice brown, caramised appearence. Will try this when I get a chance.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
