Re the staff, it is karma for the shoddy extra warranties Mis sold to people who have the sale of goods act on their side

All the pushy sales people will find jobs selling double glazing

It is the nature of the beast. Unskilled jobs equals transient work

    Goodbye Comet

they arent all like that. My partner isnt, yeah they have to offer the warrantied but if he offered it and someone said no that would be the end of the conversation. he wouldnt force or push someone into it.

plus the warranties can be cancelled at any time by the customer so they can always change their mind.

We are now in a situation where my partner is likely to be losing his job in a few weeks, we dont know when or if he will get paid and we have 2 young children to look after. And in top of that its christmas. Even if he can find another job really soon (and the amount of people that apply for one job these days i dont think its as easy as you reckon)its going to be a while before he gets paid so just think about the people who will now be struggling over christmas.

I felt so ashamed of myself when i walked in to Comet , hoping for a good reduction on microwave (mine gone kaput for no reason). the atmosphere in the shop was very depressing and you can tell the staff are all really upset.

Hi does anyone know if comet has apple products? I'm looking to buy the new iPod touch thanks
  • I would just like to say to all the Comet staff how sorry I am that this has happened, and I hope you manage to get paid and get new jobs as easily as you can. (((((Hugs))))))
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
  • If you're going down there looking for a massive reduction on desriable gear (and I'm predominantly talking Apple stuff here), you're probably going to be disappointed.

Completely uncalled for, and also a load of b*****ks.

  • There was a link posted on Digital Spy detailing the level of discounts that will be on offer and it pretty much confirms my feelings about the sale overall.
30% off TV Stands and Accessories
20% off Printers and Printer Cartridges
    20% off Small Kitchen Apps
15% off Computer Accessories and Peripherals, including software
10% off Cameras, Laptops, TVs, White Goods
    10% off Audio

I fully expect many idiots to descend on the various stores expecting to get iPads for £100 pounds and other absurd discounts.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter though because there are people with families to support who are likely about to lose their jobs just before christmas and none of this is their fault.

We were in Comet yesterday and were surprised at how "upbeat" the staff were in there...my hubby actually commented on this fact to the SA who said there is no point in being miserable as we cant change anything...he then said that most of the staff had been guaranteed jobs elsewhere....some I expect going to Currys which is next door :D

Doesn't seem to be online yet. Badly need a kettle so will probably trot down to Argos instead.
  • Big hugs to all Comet staff :( Three members of my family (myself, OH and sister) were all made redundant from Woolies, albeit from part time jobs. I remember in the last week people were trying to buy the broken carp behind the till! In the end even the shelves were sold

I was upset, because although i worked on Entertainment, i didn't manage to get anything greatly discounted really, and because i only worked at weekends, when i came back ALL toys had disappeared, even in the warehouse upstairs! :( My fingers used to bleed when i changed the charts and master-bagged (ahem, removing the discs from the cases and putting into cardboard holders, SUCH a waste of time) and it was very dusty. I was there 5.5 years! But without Woolies, never would have met the man i'm marrying in June :T

On the bright side, i now love my job as a school administrator and my OH just passed out as a police constable! :D Swings and roundabouts, so hang in there Comet staff, you never know what's around the corner :)
