Recorded Delivery...how long?

Hiya, i purchased an item in ebay on 22nd Oct, paid and waited. Seller marked the parcel as dispatched on 29th Oct, even though the listing stated 3days to dispatch.
I still havnt received it, so i messaged them to query this and ask for a tracking number (twice) as it was supposedly coming via a courier.
They have just messaged me back with a tracking number, which is royal mail, and that they sent it first class recorded and the tracking number shows 'processing through the network', apparently they do no know what this means.
How long would you give a recorded first class parcel to arrive? They do not seem like a very helpful seller, and although not a very expensive item, it cost more than i would usually spend on ebay!

sent on the 29th only gives 3 RM service days
  • 29th was Monday of last week - I make that 5 working days now, even if you don't count the 29th?

I thought i was going mad, do royal mail work on saturdays too?
  • I was allowing that as not being a business/working day, even though they deliver and collect on Saturdays too :)

Saturday is a working day for RM except for Special Delivery next day, unless Saturday guarantee has been purchased.
  • Royal Mail don't class a recorded item as missing until after 15 working days has passed. I know this as just had to put in a claim for a missing item

Slight off-topic but is Saturday officially a service day?

I'm blaming Windows 8 for my calender malfunction ;)

    As for Saturday,meeeeh
    technically yes,but with complications
Saturdays in RM were historically shorter days.
by means of working longer days during the weeks and slightly different mail feeds
so it is a service day,but with some caveats
