Issued a ticket by Conkai Security

  • Excellent thread. Shame I might have come to it too late. Note to self - always check MSE before picking up the phone.

So I have been issued a ticket (same as above) for parking in the 'wrong' bay. BPA logo is scrubbed out on ticket etc. My stupid mistake was calling them (so they now have my number) and asking them which bay I should be in if i live in flat X (so they also now have my address).

My suspicions were aroused when i said "is there anything I can do?" and he said "If you pay £30 now I'll send my driver round to collect it." I said "I don't have any cash, come tomorrow."

    So...options
    1. Ignore their calls and wait for a letter (they don't have my name)
    2. Pay the £30 and be done with it (and try to get a reciept?)
    3. Tell them they aren't registered with the BPA and see whether they bother to fight it

I do wish whoever it was who called them out had just stuck a note on my windscreen...and that I had thought before I acted

Oh don't be daft, just ignore it, they have no authority - couldn't you tell from the fake/altered ticket and the fact they wanted to send some pykey round to collect the cash?! Of course you are not paying them any money, if anyone turns up ORDER them to get lost and they have 5 seconds before you call the Police over this scam.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Ignore them completely , if they turn up at your door slam the door in their faces. If they harass you on the door phone the police, say you have someone at your demanding money with menaces.
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

They don't have your name, do they? And they don't definitely have your address, just an indication. So, they can't really write to you with a confirmed name and address. Which means you can ignore them completely. If they call again, there's no reason why you shouldn't be very rude to them. If you get a letter with your name and address on it, then they have probably obtained your details from the DVLA by dodgy means (at which point you can ask the DVLA who they gave your details to, just to be sure).

  • Looks like these scammers are a member of the BPA now.

I work nearby to the address they have as their business address but its actually a mailboxes store so all they do is hire a box for their post to go to. I see the conkai van turn up and he regularly parks in a disabled bay...I am hoping and praying for the day the REAL traffic wardens come along and ticket them.
I hope their con is stopped soon, a lady received a fine from them it looked legit until you looked closer & they were trying to get something like 85 pounds from her.. horrible people.
Or take a photo of the van and send it in to your police force's non-emergency enquiries email address :)

I've done this with dodgy parking and they've dealt with it; once got a load of crap parking drivers to move (after they had to change their underwear) once because they were parking on the pavement outside shops blocking it (the pavement's quite wide, but I doubt it's meant to be like that for parking purposes).
  • Hi so I got a ticket from Conkai Security last night, have people recently had experience of ignoring the ticket and there being no repercussions? Many thanks!
