  • ...............and not wanting to be unkind if you really that desperate for food and finance how important is your internet connection?

Guys...I'm not that desperate for food... And no internet or telephone = No job. I work from home and drive a lot around the UK for work. Without my car and the internet and phone i would have no job meaning i would be a lot worse off.;)

I have to admit I'm rather amazed at some of the responses...also yes it depends on where you food shop but as a whole petrol is going up and supermarkets have to raise prices of food as its costing them more to get it on the shelves. :)

Budget better and never use a PDL company again.

An an ideal world then yes... however, we don't live in an ideal world... so making statements like this is easier said than done, especially when circumstances can change dramatically and unexpectedly.

I can only assume you have never had the misfortune of running in to sever financial difficulties which leave you with no choice but to try find money from anywhere you can!

I have to say that without a doubt this is so far the best response I have come across yet! Well said!

The main thing I want to know if can I take legal action against QuickQuid?
That sounds expensive, and extreme, to me. After all, money's tight isn't it?

Why not simply direct your energies into making a complaint? Details on their website. Don't forget to include any consequential losses, out of pocket expenses, and inconvenience suffered.

Then, when they refuse, simply refer it to the FOS as is your right.

The first real helpful bit of advice about the question I actually asked. Thanks for that I will look in to this and make an official complaint.

There are too many people on this site who seem to criticise and look down on those less fortunate and not actually help....I'm really lost with that!! :(

Thanks to all those who have helped though. :j

OP when you take out a payday loan you do give the Co authority to take money from you account. You need to look at the date that you renegotiated your loan terms with them to see if you have grounds for complaint.

The payments on the original loan are probably taken by direct debit and the payment is called for a few days in advance of it going out of your account. So if you spoke to them about the new loan on 30 October, they wouldn't have been able to cancel the request for 31. However if you spoke to them around 24 or 25 October then they had time to cancel and have cocked up!

I would also suggest that you try not to rise to some of the comments made - people on here do generally try to be helpful but we do see an awful lot of posts regarding issues with PD loan cos.
  • This got me worried a little as this money was budgeted to buy food etc for the weekend ahead, I have 2 small children and my Partner.

This left my account with £2 in credit...

£134 for food, etc, for the weekend ahead?????

What were you planning on doing - going on a shopping trip to Harrods?

You're advice is most appreciated as I'm really upset by all this
Budget better and never use a PDL company again - that was the reply I gave.

It is easier said than done. But sensible budgeting, no borrowing and setting a little bit aside in a savings account for the unexpected (which will always happen, however unexpected it may be) is the cornerstone of sensible financial management.
I can only assume you have never had the misfortune of running in to sever financial difficulties which leave you with no choice but to try find money from anywhere you can!
Well no. I've budgeted prudently since I was a teenager, cutting back on spending when times have been hard and made a point of never paying interest to anybody other than a mortgage lender - thus avoiding having even less money in subsequent months.

I've had tough times. But I've avoided making disastrous financial decisions that turn tough times into something much worse. By budgeting and saving.

It's not intended as a put down. It's intended as a way forwards that will avoid a lifetime of financial misery, which invariably means misery in other parts of life.

poor OP came here for advice and got the usual thrashing from the get-along-gang

seriously why come on a forum to make people feel bad?

do you enjoy kicking people when they are down?

i am pretty sure OP is well aware of PDL problems and used them purely as a last resort.

and whilst we can all feed our family out of the fridge/cupboard - its not very nice to have only £2 in your pocket over the weekend.
    and what about milk/bread/fruit?

i myself would be mortified if i had £2 to last all weekend due to a company's error - they would be preventing me from having my date with mr pinot grigio :o
  • I find (not meaning here in particular, but in general) that there are plenty of people who have absolutely no idea of what it is to be in serious financial difficulty. Yes, no doubt they did some things right that others did wrong, such as never leaving a balance on a credit card. But equally I suspect they have absolutely no idea of what it really is like when something absolutely HAS to be paid, or what it is like to lose your job when you don't qualify for redundancy pay, or to have a business that is squeezed by the recession, by rich customers refusing to pay on time (that's how they get rich, perhaps) and desperate suppliers wanting payment earlier and earlier.

I am sick to death of people, with more money than I can ever dream, of taking financial advantage of me. When you are poor already, things cost more, that's just how it is. Those who most need cheap credit can only get ludicrously expensive credit, you can't bulk buy because you can't afford the initial outlay, you can't get a car that is fuel efficient because you can only afford an old banger, you can't keep the car serviced to avoid big problems because that costs money. You can't insulate your house to save heating bills because the damp problem has to be addressed first and being able to afford that is beyond your wildest dreams, and so on.

I don't do the national lottery, never have, but I tell you if I ever won on it, my greatest delight would be helping out people just like me and some of the others posting here, to get back on their feet again. But the rich, alas, don't think like that, not even those rich that you think of as your friends. And that, I suppose, is why they are rich.
