  • Brilliant!! You probs already know this but don't give any of them your new bank account details. I set up standing orders to pay them. I still got threatening letters and such and some were passed onto DCA's after refusing to accept my offers but I sorted them out as well. Let me know what happens eh? Best of Luck x

Standing orders are you instructing your bank to pay an amount every so often to someone. You can amend or cancel them at any time (but it's a good idea to get agreement for the changes from the person / company you're paying or they will chase you another way!). So the person / company you're paying can't request another amount to be paid by S/O - only you can make changes to the amount and frequency of payment.

Direct Debits are you saying to your bank "Whenever this company asks you to send money from my account to them - do it, please".

So, apart from the DD Guarantee, the company you are paying basically has all the control over what they request and how often. Ethical companies will tell you how much and when they wil take money (e.g monthly gas bill) and if they plan to change the amount they will give you notice. But ultimately, they're in control of the DD amount and frequency.

What amazes me more is the fact that in this very country at this very moment there are children who are going without lunch, tea etc because there parents cannot afford it. It's a fact of life and a part of any economy.

As stated above I have food in for the kids but I need a fresh shop of food hence budgeting for that for the week.

We're the almighty UK.... Please don't sound so ignorant and oblivious to the real world.... in 2012 people can't even afford a bowl of rice in some countries....The UK is just as messed up in a lot of ways.

Food costs money and as each day goes by it gets more and more expensive! ;)

Just so you know the % of people living in the Great almighty UK under the poverty belt rises year on year and food aid parcels are now becoming more and more common place!!

Really bugs me people who have their heads in the cloud

I feel for you, and you are one of very many..
Next time you shop look at the amount of cash being used at the checkouts...

Someone i know who works at a asda one has told me its gone up by 50% and she has people putting things back all the time due to not enough money...

Please please stay away from these legalised loan sharks and good luck...
Many people are hurting out there..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
