  • I usually get him loads of clothes, aftershave, skincare products, a few silly things from firebox.com, stocking fillers, generally spend a fortune but this year we've set a £50 limit so i've started buying stuff to make your own gingerbread house. I was going to buy a book on how to do it but I can only really find one, on amazon £29.99 which is a lot out the budget.

You could print this recipe out and get it laminated? http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/4900/simple-gingerbread-house

Can I ask where you got this? It sounds a good idea for mine. xx

I just got it off Amazon - I did a lot of shopping around and you can buy ones that cost hundreds of pounds, but that seemed such a waste. So I got him this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001FB5J72/ref=oh_details_o06_s01_i00. - though I notice the price has gone up by £10 since I bought it!
  • My boyfriend ALWAYS wants games for his XBox/PS3/Vita *yawn*. I never get him these as I don't see the point in buying him something he gets himself all year anyway!

This year, since a Chinese girl joined their office and brings them in lots of tasty treats, he's developed an interest in Chinese food and cooking. We went to Wing Yip Chinese supermarket in Manchester the other week and he was SO excited bless him. So this year I'm making him a "hamper" with wok, cleaver, book (cheap from the book people), and some Chinese sweets and bits. Basically a £40 trolley dash in Wing Yip! (Yes, you really can get all that for £40 in there - MUCH cheaper from authentic shops).

I'm also making him some pyjama bottoms as he lives in his!

His birthday is end of Nov, so have bought a vintage style camera bag for his SLR.
  • I've got my DH -

Star wars lounge trousers, Stars wars lego keyring torch, a checked shirt, a notts county top, hunter socks, a New York hamper and a Star wars tin filled with sweets. He'll also have £50 in money to put towards his iphone.

    He's Star wars mad :)
  • Thank you all for your replies! I would love to be able to get him some cooking stuff/coffee maker etc but he has no interest in cooking at all. His main interest is football and the FIFA computer game ( and only FIFA - he doesn't have or even want any other football games ). He does love our dog but last year I got him a mouse mat with a photo of the dog on it .... It never made its way to his office in work though lol.

I know as a kid he loved mechano and Lego etc. I was tempted to get something along those lines - but I'm not sure if it's worth spending the money if he won't use it. We don't have kids who we can pass it down too!

Yep mine is the same as a few others have said - if there's is something he wants between now and Christmas he will just go and buy it now. He doesnt see the point in telling someone to buy it for him and then spend weeks getting "frustrated" as he can't have it now. I see the logic, but I look at Xmas as I'm excited to get my presents, not that I'm frustrated I cant just go and buy it myself now lol.

Its his birthday mid January too...at least I can pick up lots in the sales for that though!
  • My OH is also super into gadgets, but also pretty much has any of them that he wants.

I ended up buying a docking station that he could put his ipod/iphone/ipad in as he doesn't have one and I think that he would make use of it.

Is there anything related to the gadgets that he already has that you think he might like/use?

    itune vouchers/case/carry case/fancy headphones/apps/speakers/docking station...

I am really struggling to get ideas for my boyfriend. I thought about getting him some of those touchscreen gloves, some aftershave & a nice top or something from jacamo. He has just bought himself a motor bike and got all the gear for it. He does want a screen for the bike but its £70 plus fitting and VAT!

He is really into football and computers/gaming but he just buys things he wants when he wants them.

    Men are a pain!

I have this book and it has a small gingerbread house in it as well as lots of other ideas for gingerbread and some ginger cakes. It is a relatively thin book so I wouldn't pay the price that some of the sellers want for it new. You could get it for under £3 though if you were happy to have a secondhand one.
