High risk to Britons in Egypt

Dave - glad to hear you are now concentrating on the positives - sun, food and drinks!! Just imagine how cold it will be in the UK in January. Not sure where you are staying, we went to a hotel called Magic Life 2 years ago and we're really keen to return as it was such a great hotel. The standard of the All Inclusives in Egypt seems to be pretty good, so I'm sure you'll have a fab time.
Regarding the prices, I too have been checking prices quite a bit over the last month or so, still being undecided as to where to take our January break. Thomson's currently have £30 off all holidays to Egypt (per booking). Other than that prices seem to remain unchanged. You would expect the prices to drop as the time gets closer to fill remaining seats, but lately prices don't seem to drop on holidays, maybe they just want to get as much as possible for each holiday rather than sell more holidays with less profit on each. And not a great deal of winter options for holidays either.0 -
Looks like we've got some lousy weather waiting for us when we arrive on Thursday...

Bizarrely it says 0C on Sunday night. Think that might be a wee mistake.
Those temps do make Egypt seem a good option right now though. Rather wet and windy here this morning.0 -

Ohhh how awful! I shall try my best to put up with it without complaint when I get to Nabq on Monday0 -
We're going to Nabq Bay and the hotel is called Oriental Hotel.
And its true that on Trip advisor there seems to be no concerns.
(apart from mixed reviews of the hotel)0 -
Magic Life was in Nabq Bay, so same area. There are some shops, fairly quiet area, but can take taxi into town (arrange through hotel).
There is a long promenade along the beach, not sure if your hotel is on the beach or across the road. It's nice to go along the promenade though, and if it's on the beach your hotel might have a jetty. We used to walk out onto our jetty and watch the colourful fish.
Prices dropped ever so slightly today by the way....now down at £610 but I'm still looking up Bangkok just now. Not sure.0 -
All sounds good.
We only paid £365 pp for a week all inc.
Its a Christmas present to each other0 -

Snap. Dint worry Dave, our third time to this hotel and it's great. Tip your waiter well on the first night and you will have a table waiting all week.
The hotel itself is spotless clean, the grounds are outstandingly beautiful and maintained constantly.
I think most if the complaints come from its 5 star status but in reality a five star Egyptian hotel is probably akin to a 3 here.
If there is anything you'd like to know ask me, as I said I fly there again on Monday. If you are there at the same time look for through woman in the skid row and slip knot shirts and shout hi!0 -
Btw. Oriental has its own private beach and you can access the jetty. You can snorkle the reef there in 4 feet of water and see clown fish etc, truly beautiful so take a snorkel set with you. That said I've read that a lot of the reef has died since I last went
Two other tips Dave, take pound coins. For some reason the staff love them for tips. Two, take an old card (Aa, clubcard etc) the room aircon works on your keycard. If you take an extra card you can leave it on while you are out0
