Hi everyone, just finally caught up again. We have had the morning in the garden, hubby cut the lawn and weeding the flower bed. Then we became DIY'ers, we managed without an argument to replace the glass in the summerhouse. The window pane cracked when OH did a bonfire too close to it last year.

FUDDLE, im glad your not going back. Take some time this week for yourself, your health is far more important than any amount of money. Something will be along shortly.

Today I decided to do a proper clean of my bedroom, including moving the bed and hovering all the carpet. Its so nice and fresh in there now. Have started to box up the car boot stuff, although I haven't entered the shed of doom yet for some more bits and bobs to sell.

OH is fast asleep on the sofa, today is his only day off and he decided he isn't going to do any more today. I don't blame him either.

We have received the date for OH uncles funeral, 7th may in central London. Why are they now arguing where his ashes should go?? And why are they all trying find out what cash he has left in his bank? So sad really. I have promised my OH I will attend, im worried about going as I struggle some days with the loss of my dad 2 years ago. Time to be as strong as possible.

Margaret, what an awful situation. The worst I had to endure was seeing a child hit another child, at the lunch table, with his fork prongs on the top of his head. I was scared stiff he was going to serverely hurt the little boy so sat with the table to hold his hand, be on guard incase if another incident and try to engage troubled child in chat so he didn't do it again. I was shouted at "what do you think your doing, sat with one child?! You don't work for local authority now sitting on your backside, get this spillage mopped up!" What I thought was right, safe and needed was not at all how management saw it.

Anyway, who cares huh? Out of it and ready to try something different.

Mince and onions for tea, yorkshires and mashe potato, welcome home fuds :)

Meal planning is onthe back burner, I got waylaid by carrot muffins :D but will try after bath time.

    Questions if you don't mind:

    1) headlice: do they return? DD had th week ago, she's been complaining her head is itchy but I can't see anything.

    2) peas to plant: DD has brought some peas home to plant and grow from school. There's no instructions. Is it the time of year to plant them up.

    News... We're getting a home bargains :D

Put a few drops of tea tree oil in the shampoo bottle and that will make sure the head lice dont return Fuddle. As for the peas pop them in now and they will soon sprout, keep them warm for a while then introduce them to outside on a warm day...if we ever get one

Just packed out the plates for tea with roasted butternut squash - it was yummy. Ds actually commented on how nice the meal looked - usually he just says ' my plates empty so it must have been good' :D

Fuddle unfortunately they do come back. Best thing I ever did was buy a nitty gritty comb, think it was £2 but it gets all the eggs and nits out. Oh and put a few drops of tea tree oil on a nitty comb and comb through the hair. Think its 39p for bottle out of home bargains

Great to see Mrs Chip back, good to see you making the right decision Fuddle, how dare they talk to you like that... Prats.
Generally some good stuff here, a new Switch (walking) Stick in the post yesterday to replace mine that broke last Sat. night, very happy with this.
DS paid his board on the day he was paid with no word from me, this has never happened before.
A new filly foal born at 'my' racehorse-in-waiting's stud, oh she is beautiful, spectacular skewbald markings. I wonder if I can persuade DS to buy a share when the time comes?
Some good freebies to trial in the post, and I got the A!di voucher.
Fuddle, before I forget, Aldi are great to work for but it is really hard work as all stores are run on a skeleton staff, more or less. Be prepared to be very busy if you get a job there. On the plus side DD has been at the Bishop one for 6 years which tells you a lot.
Rumour control has it that Lidl are no way near as good, but it may be regional. The Lidl staff in the store up at Durham were great and I seemed to see the same faces.

    Thank you :)

Leek pudding? Would you serve it as the main part of the dish with veg and gravy or is it more an accompaniment? Off to find how to make it. Can you get leeks this time of year?

DH back from fishing. He won £15 :)
  • Leek Pudding is a very tasty main course, we serve it with lots of gravy and some extra veg, it was one of Nells staples at Uni and yes leeks are still in season and very good at the moment. Well done Mr Fuddle on his fishing win, Hooray!!!

Nits, Fuddle. My advice would be to mix tea tree oil with cheapo conditioner and use this to comb through. It really works. The life cycle of the head louse means that eggs escape the first treatment and a second must be done a week later.
For adults, using tea tree oil mixed into any shampoo, conditioner or leave in conditioner is a good preventative. As is dyeing hair.

I'm surprised nobody has thought about sending Nursie to North Korea, or maybe even to Fuddles ex-employer. That place sounds like it needs a dose of Nursie. I'm glad you're out of there Fuddle.
