Oh Pooky - wow, just well (not often I'm lost for words lol) wow! That looks amazing - if I PM you our address when are you free??? :D

Fuddle - I'm with hubby, notice in - you managed before, you will again until something less damaging to your sanity comes along. As far as I know unless your contract specifies otherwise a weeks notice is all that is statutory.

Mrs Chip - yay to see you back, less yay for the naughty 'spensive van. really hope things pick up for you this year. In a kind of chirpy Pollyanna type way of thinking - at least if half the van is new parts then it's almost like having a new van. Feel free to give me a clip round the ear for being flippant - seriously I know what the whole car/van thing can be like and the only thing that gets me through is a bit of light-hearted attempts at humour!

Took the kids off to Saltaire to the Hockney gallery today - don't think DD was too impressed with the Hockneys although she did say the pencil drawings were 'okay'! the cake and fancy elderflower cordial in the diner was met with much more enthusiasm and she did really like the expensive but oh so pretty designer kitchen things in the Home shop - Like mother, like daughter you could say - I try not to foist my tastes on her, but as that is my exact same opinions I guess she's picking some of it up. Tomorrow is Church and then Granny's house. DH is now officially a pillock of the community - having volunteered (???) to join the parochial parish council (and very pleased to see new blood they were too!)

Hope you are all keeping well - Hugs X

Can somebody tell me (nicely) what to do with the following :
    3 leeks
    some chicken livers
    some bacon
Went OUT in the car today - anybody got a brass band and a flag? :D
Over the Devils Beef Tub to Moffat for chips and ice cream. Sweltering heatwave of 11C too - but still snow on the top of the hills.
:) OK, what on earth is the Devils Beef Tub?

Being a just about passable cook, I'd be tempted to roll the liver in flour and fry it with onions, adding the bacon and serve the leeks steamed with steamed tatties and a rich gravy.

;) Hopefully a proper cook will wander by shortly and help out.

Try this but use leek instead of shallots and bacon instead of Chorizo :D

So glad you got out for a while Mar, you must have been stir crazy.

Pooky your kitchen looks amazing and you have worked so hard. Hope you are looking after yourself though x

Hello Mrs chip, you were missed you know :) So sorry you had problems, lets hope for a better year for you and all us gardeners too.

Fuddle no one can ever say you didnt try hunny, you are amazing but it sounds like the job is wrong in so many ways and you will be much better out of there. All praise for trying to get a new job first but sadly I think you may be out of there sooner rather than later - and no one can blame you x

Open Office is now called Libre Office - just saying! (and yes I use that as well :o)

There's still Open Office too, Libre Office branched off with the same code and many of the original developers who designed open office in 2010(and many of the coding community feels like they're the safer bet), then Open Office was taken over by Apache - Courtesy of MrSoftstuff ;)

Softstuff: How very dare you! I'll have you know that I'm off to Greece for a restful and peaceful holiday. If I find that you have sold Nursie to the Greek Government and that she is rampant ANYWHERE near where my caravan resteth I will be seriously displeased. If you are intent on putting her on a plane anytime soon could you not stuff her suitcase with illegal substances. A quick, anonymous phone call to the airport authorities should ensure her incarceration for a few blissful weeks. Job done!

Fuddle: Well done my girl! Give your resignation in and see what happens. The merest whiff of nastiness and as Mrs LW says, the fearsome threesome will be donning their chainmail knickers, grasping their Kitchen Devil Vegetable knives and marching on the place.

Seriously, you don't have to put up with it. What are they going to do? Lock you in the Wendy House? If all else fails I would go off sick. Stress seems to be the obvious reason. If you could get a job connected to a school you would at least have the holidays covered. I know they are rarer than hen's teeth but keep your eyes peeled.

Right, I'm off to bed. Today has been unbelievable, even for my life.

fuddle - monnagran is right, you could actually go off ill with stress and given your medical history it wouldnt be untrue - likelihood is that at the end of the trial period they would just choose not to keep you on anyway -which saves you resigning :)
