Rosie: What a bummer! I'm not much help but I knew someone who was in a similar position to you. In desperation she put an advert in the paper offering to do anything around the house, cleaning, weeding even a bit of decorating. One lady offered her a cleaning job, it made me smile as she was a real slob at home but she said it was different cleaning someone else's house. The business grew until she took somebody else on to help out. I've sort of lost touch with her but have heard that she now has several people working for her and has a flourishing little business.
I'm not suggesting that you go into cleaning as a career but just know that all sorts of things are possible - probably things you have never dreamed of. Nil Desperandum.

RPP, every sympathy, what a carp thing to happen. I hope you can buck the trend.
Peanut, re the coleslaw, the cheapest way I found of making a large quantity wasn't to make your own, but to buy a value coleslaw (I got Mr T's) and to bulk it out with very finely grated carrots as cheap coleslaw is always swimming in dressing and has very little carrot compared with cabbage and onion. Cabbage and dressing are far more expensive than carrots. It's amazing how much carrot you can add to soak up the dressing,
If anyone has deja-vu, I posted this tip last year.
Laptop threw a wobbler so I didn't get anything snazzy from Amazon Vine, but I did get a gizmo to connect my pc to our wireless network that may be more reliable than the existing one.
I also got a book written by Dr Christian Jessell for DGC which amuses me, as DS is his spitting image, except DS is dark and Dr Christian is a bleached blond.
DS is seriously contemplating going as "Dr Christian" to a fancy dress party he's been invited to.All he'll need is a lab coat and stethoscope.:rotfl:
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Softstuff Enjoy your week off and I hope your toe is feeling better.
Thanks SDG, it's fine, but there's a funny reason why. It wasn't broken, it was dislocated (which hurt a lot more at the time than being broken, but once it was put back in, is just dandy). It turned black enough to look like I had a toe transplant. At least it gave my physio some amusement, she already thinks I'm nuts.
Hope you enjoy your gigantic Knitfest.
Monnagran, if you weren't in your PJ's with a facepack, forgetting isn't too bad!
Margaret our local chippy put their prices up to about $25 for the 2 of us, so we've not been in ages. We found another recently, $10! And the best chips I've had over here.
Peanut - Coleslaw in this house is shredded white cabbage, grated carrot and mayo (homemade mayo recipe is on my homepage). If I'm feeling lazy potato salad is cooked potato cubes (I cube them and microwave them), chopped spring onions and mayo. If I'm feeling adventurous I make Russian salad which is cubed potato, cubed carrot (cooked), cubed peas (defrosted!), gherkins cut into tiny bits and mayo.
*Hugs* RosiePuddingPaws. I hope it turns out well for you.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

Hugs to all in need and boy there seems to be a lot of tough times for people. Been away for a few days break and did it in true O/S style. All I bought was 6 eggs and 2 meals out and one was a BOGOFF :j
Visited Skegness and its a very sad place. Lots of closed down shops and half the others were shut that day for some reason. All I wanted was fish and chips and a seat looking out to sea - couldnt see the sea for amusement arcades, and playgrounds ( pay to go on ones) I think you would have a long walk to get to the actual beach and that wasnt on the cards with hubby so we left. Passed Butlins and it looks as if they are taking over the far end of town - ghastly place. Lots of tacky shops there too, if I see another onesie on sale I will scream.
Happily the rest of Lincolnshire we saw, was, as I left it many many years ago, peaceful, if you ignore the RAF flybys, which I never minded. Came home to a greenhouse full of seedlings including flowers - miracle :T Off to bed now as I was up at 6 am - I need a holiday now to get over the holiday. DGS flew out to Spain with Mummy and Daddy and loved the plane, I hoped he would and is having a fab time so that news helped me relax. He had his third birthday there but we dont care we can celebrate when he gets back. Just as long as everyone is happy.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0
